is this a serious question? the pawless hub does exactly what ochain does. chain flop can only cause feedback that can be felt on cranks if the chain lengthening is blocked by freewheel. and it is obviously blocked by the normal chainring if you don't turn the cranks. it doesn't matter from which side the float comes: the cassette or chainring.

It’s not for me, but that/this is just my opinion. I am a bit gutted to see that the new trend might be wirelessly gears only and I can understand why but are theses companies doing it a few years too early? Personally I would like to see wireless gear only frames once the gear cable hole is pretty much redundant. It’s also not as bad as it is being made out though, it looks like Specialized will be doing a Alu Stumpjumper that takes a gear cable and the other company getting a lot of heat in the other...

Burst pressure and hose stiffness aren’t the same thing. The braided lines do make a small noticeable difference on trail. The lever feel improves with braided lines because they expand less under pressure. It’s not a big improvement but it is noticeable. I’d say it’s about the same as the normal difference between front and rear brakes due to the extra hose length. I’ve compared them side by side. My friend has the braided hoses on his Tech 4 V4s and I have the standard hoses.

Hope aren’t wrong, “Overall performance” is the same, the brake doesn’t make more stopping power with a braided line. It just slightly firms up the lever feel after the pads contact the rotor. Regarding front-rear differences, in my experience it seems to vary between brands based on the hoses they spec. The worst I’ve seen was Magura, their hoses were almost stretchy. If you squeezed the line, you could feel it expand when you pulled the brake.

I should have been a bit more clear- I think the new stumpy that’s coming out is going to be fine if it has a yoke. The new shocks are tougher too- all brands. Older designs (bikes and shocks) are more fragile for sure. Monarchs were/are super fragile and had a high warranty rate. I think that is fairly well known. Keep complaining- some companies read this stuff!

IMO it's hard to argue that there isn't a design flaw when DVO, Fox, and Zoke won't honor their normal warranty on those bikes... VS every other bike where it isn't a problem. And even if something catastrophic doesn't happen with an air shock or "approved" coil shock, the bike is going to wear out parts at an accelerated rate which is a bummer for biggger and or, faster riders. People also complain about trunnion mount shocks, but I haven't heard of any trunnion bikes voiding warranties as soon as a product is installed. The list below is from the...

Rear centre length is a huge proponent to front end grip that gets overlooked. If the CS is long enough, it literally drives the front wheel into the ground almost. My current bike has a 463mm CS, I could put my stem on backwards and still have grip lol. Sure I cant manual now, put my bike on a rack, bunnyhop or make any tight corners, but at least I got grip!

Overall I've been impressed with the v3, especially the improved seal (see comment regarding grease retention). The only thing that's a little disappointing is that the side to side play seems just as bad as the v2 despite the addition of more pins. Short of moving to keyways instead of cylindrical pins, I'm not sure how this could be addressed.

I've had mine since earlier in the year and have subjected it to a lot of abuse. I opened it for the first time the other day for a quick regrease and was pleasantly surprised by a) how much grease was still there and b) how clean everything was. The new seal is a big improvement.

Feel like it's time to give a trip report, since we've been back a few days: Flew into Nice. Stayed there for a night in old town area. Very walkable and nice (hah). Trained over to Finale Ligure the next day. Got a recently renovated apartment in Finalborgo area, which was just awesome. Since my wife and other son weren't riding, we debated between Finale Ligure proper (proximity to the beach) and Finalborgo (proximity to riding). We ended up staying in Finalborgo, and I think it was the right move. Finale is nice, but it feels like a modern city...

I would rather see forbidden spending their cash getting Conner to the races instead of brook. I mean I like brook but he’s not setting the world on fire on the supernaught. While we at it get alex store & Emmy lann to more DH world cups

It's about the ratio of system weight to rider weight that makes it so important in push bikes. A DH bike is about 16kg with a 80kg rider for a system weight of 96kg, so the CoG of the rider and small weight biases determine the entire balance of th system. Dirt bikes weigh minimum 100kg (for a 250, idk what a 450 weighs) with a 80kg rider, so the rider position matters a lot less. It's also why moto suspension is so much easier to setup and tune as there is less change is load

It's interesting to hear the arguments about weight bias among bicyclists. (I'm primarily a motorcycle rider.) After years of participating in both endeavors, I've realized that bicycle guys agonize over every mm of geo and give far more importance to the bike setup than MX guys do. We motorcyclists have to contend with one frame size and precious few ergonomic adjustment options, so we lean much more upon body positioning to put the right weight bias into the bike. The result is that it sounds weird to hear an opinion that someone crashed because his handlebars were a little taller...

The new Hightower should be considered too. It's very solidly in that category with a slight tilt towards descents. I'd consider a V2 Druid too. 130mm travel only but definitely rides as if it had more. In this category I think tires can make a huge difference and can tilt any bike more towards trail or enduro depending on what rubber is mounted up. Jeffsy could be a contender too at a cheaper price point if that is a consideration. You could do a Revel Rail also which behaves more as an all mountain bike. Lot's to choose from for...
