2/27/2026 10:33am Thanks for this, I run my 2 pairs of A1 Ults with contact fully in after a fresh set of pads/bleed, and was assuming if I try the B1 levers I'd end up running the adjuster further out, but wasn't sure how much. One concern I have for my situation is whether I'll run out of contact adjust running the B1s, trying to compensate for differential pad wear between left & right. I'm kinda on the fence whether I want to try the B1s. Curiosity says yes, but I actually like the hump in leverage on the A1 levers as...

2/26/2026 2:22pm Just fitted the Maven lever tuning kit to my A1 silver brakes. I thought I would put this up here as I surprised there is no test info on this considering it’s a big selling point. First of all I personally haven’t had a problem with them from start. This silver set have been faultless but I have got another...

10/5/2024 11:56pm Rumour of my demise have been exaggerated. We are safe. But we are forever changed. A water & wind event of near biblical proportions hit us & has taken far more lives than can be counted. Didn't know where to make my one post, but this will be it for a long time. No politician, no plan, no design could have stopped anything that happened here. A stream I could step across took the first home at the top of it. A friend lost 10 members of his family saving his wife and kids watching his parents & relatives swept...

9/26/2024 1:02am Well, I think it makes more sense on a road/gravel bike IMO I've had heaps of road punctures etc - can store wind jacket etc in the frame. Vs MTB... big rides are usally at the point of hip pack anyway or shuttle'd For reference i've used alot of bikes with storage, Stumpy evo, slash.... marin etc i've used it once, to put my wind jacket away on the EVO... and that was on a local ride. Never used it otherwise... id rather my tube be on the frame if i ever needed it(which i dont)... as most internal storage...

9/3/2024 2:11pm I was a Carbon rim on my enduro/park bike, guy for years. 3 years ago, I went back to running EX511's on my big bikes and most recently, bought a set of Reserve AL/HDs. I have run reserve carbon, chinese off brand carbon, giant trx carbon and roval carbon wheels. Currently, the carbon wheels in my stable are btlos (chinese direct) hoops and an aging set of reserve 30s. A few comments from that experience: 1) The biggest reason draw for me, and thing that I miss about running carbon wheels was the lack of maintenance. I essentially seem to...

9/3/2024 12:55pm This is an interesting one to me as I am always looking to buy carbon wheels but can never justify buying them. I will happily wast money on other bike parts but when it comes to wheels I always end up with Aluminium, am I missing something? I always thought it would be worth buying carbon wheels to save weight...
Tom Added a reply to Poll: Electric shifting vs mechanical shifting
7/28/2024 10:54am Don’t want to risk derailing another thread as this was I think created from the tech rumours one going off track. But yeah regarding T Type and drivetrain wear. I can’t remember all the numbers and details (got them at work if needed). This customer puts a lot of miles in on a full powered e bike and he knows...

7/27/2024 12:11pm Thanks to those who have chimed in and/or participated in the poll so far! What this comes down for me is something I can answer in a few simple questions. Does the technology improve the bike riding experience? If so, how much? With respect to electronic shifting, I don't see it. Its a nice to have, its sexy, it shifts well, but I don't find my on bike experience to be any better than a good mechanical system and its more expensive. I've had numerous rides when I had it where I had the battery crap out (or I left...

7/27/2024 12:11pm I'll add something to this discussion. I'm too dumb for electronic drivetrains. I've been lucky enough to own them on a road bike and a mountain bike, and on both bikes I had to constantly think (hard) about how to use the shifter. Months into riding them, I would still shift the wrong way because I forgot which direction the shifter went. I have so much muscle memory into physical cable-operated shifting that my brain struggles to learn a new shifting habit. It doesn't help that there's absolutely zero kinesthetic feedback for your thumb in an electronic shift beyond an...

7/27/2024 11:38am It’s not for me, but that/this is just my opinion. I am a bit gutted to see that the new trend might be wirelessly gears only and I can understand why but are theses companies doing it a few years too early? Personally I would like to see wireless gear only frames once the gear cable hole is pretty much...

3/2/2024 1:52pm Just going to give my thoughts on the Maven lever hand fatigue topic. I am going off topic to rant on about Hope brakes but this will make sense if you make it to the end. For a start I have never used the Maven brakes. I have always loved and championed Code RSC brakes and never had an issue...
Tom Added a comment about press release An e-bike For Kids - Introducing The Specialized Levo SL 24" HT
6/13/2023 11:29am To me the final shot shows a lack of trail knowledge. From my eyes in that last photo it looks like a right hand corner with the entrance at the top and the exit at the bottom. You could say it’s an example of e bikes putting people in places they wouldn’t normally be able to reach straight away. Or it could just be a lazy photographer. Either way laziness is the outcome of that last photo. Thinking about it, I could be very wrong and it could be a very/over productive trail builder that for some reason has over...

Tom Added a comment about feature Eddie Masters Thinks the UCI Is Suffocating Downhill Racing
10/26/2020 1:56pm Whilst all these points are very valid, why shouldn’t the UCI and red bull make the best TV show to cover the pinnacle of DH racing? I have been a fan of DH for over 20 years and the coverage now is the best it has ever been. But let’s take this year, we have only just got into the coverage so I was certainly thirsty for it, but have I watched all of the coverage from Red bull? Well no, to watch the men’s and the women’s show’s it’s over 3hrs. Then take the double header that’s over a...

1/23/2018 2:00pm What are your thoughts on a triple clamp fork for 160-180 trail bikes? Personally I don’t understand why they are not a thing yet. Modern trail bikes get push hard these day and I hate to say it but surely the e bike market would benefit from them as well. Reading that you have spring fitment issues with 170-180mm forks...

Thanks for getting back, sticking with an air shock might be the best thing to do then. I find the bike really does work at it's best at just over 30% sag and I am running 3 rings in the air can. There doesn't seem to be any modern coil shocks that you can adjust the ramp up. Keep up the good work!!

Cool story bro, but I need to know more about that bike! I have geeked out over the black decal on the top tube and I am thinking it's a smuggler, if so is that a X2 coil as they don't make one to fit the smuggler? Very tempted to try a coil on mine but I am a bit unsure that it might not be progressive enough and bottom out all the time? Cheers!
