The new Hightower should be considered too. It's very solidly in that category with a slight tilt towards descents. I'd consider a V2 Druid too. 130mm travel only but definitely rides as if it had more. In this category I think tires can make a huge difference and can tilt any bike more towards trail or enduro depending on what rubber is mounted up. Yes just came on here to report this issue today at the bikepark haha. Pumped up too much after a long descent. Even weirder : adjusting the contact the normal way with the small T9 torx would "reset" the lever. Meaning that turning the contact adjuster one way then the other back to the same initial position would somehow restore some lever throw... before pumping up again on the next long descent. About 6 pages back I had talked about my trick to reduce dead throw. This was exactly it, I was planning on writing up a power point with instructions but after spending some time up in the sierras with this done, I would highly advise against it. My understanding is that is disrupts the port timing of the reservoir and the piston. Made some progress with the Hayes Dominion excessive dead throw issue! For anyone with who's interested, here's the fix : 1. Remove the lever - two torx screws top and bottom, then wiggle it out. 2. Loosen the small grub screw (green arrow). 3. Tighten the ball-head screw as far as you can without it rubbing (red arrow) 4. Tighten the grub screw again and reinstall. Doing this reduced the dead throw in the lever by 12mm. Still slightly more throw than my Codes, but massively improved. I suspect mine were set up wrong from the factory and the ball-head...

I agree with others who've discussed the benefits of powerful brakes, big rotors, and tall bars for fighting off arm pump. Ditto for hand exercises and changing brake lever position, which are free. I struggled with arm pump for years racing motocross but have never suffered actual arm pump on a mountain bike. Arm pump where you cannot pull the clutch lever enough to shift gears. Tons of good solutions up above. Something I've been working on is actively 'letting go' of the bars. You see the moto guys do this in the air where they'll actively let their hands loose up on the bars. On certain sections of trail, where you can get away from it, let your hands totally relax. I do this as much as possible even on runs when I don't get arm pump. Building up that muscle memory for longer runs. Takes a good attack stance to pull this off (not saying mine is great) but a good hinge, core strength...

I have definitely not solved arm pump, but I have found bigger, more powerful brakes has been the biggest help equipment wise. I'm running Hayes Dominions with 220mm rotors and this year and I get a lot less arm fatigue as I don't have to pull very hard on the brake to get power (this brake setup is almost overkill... almost). Compared to stock Code RSCs with 200mm rotors, the difference is huge. The heat management, power, and ease of lever pull are all great on this setup. Compliant bars seem to help as well. 100% on the tapered bleed fitting tip. About a year ago there was a PB interview with one of the Hayes guys, and he said as much in other words. He specifically recommends taking a pair of Knipex and giving the fittings a little bit of extra torque to make sure the bleed fitting tip bottoms out in the bleed port. As soon as I started doing that, my bleeds got way more consistent and stopped getting that infuriating trickle of bubbles when I did vacuum bleeds.
