Actually very similar to the approach that Downamics talks about using in their Instagram post above. We recorded data from a range of different rides on varying bikes and trails. Merged the data and cleaned it up a little. We used a fast Fourier transform to order the data in a most to least occurrences fashion. Yup, both fluids are about equally bad - I think its just a perception that people think mineral oil is "friendlier" despite being you know, a petroleum product.... So it seems weird to target dot fluid when so much more of it is used in cars and there are far worse materials like PTFE still being used in chain lubes and suspension oil

Id like to expand on the loam review issues... I took my perfectly working mavens and bled them as most would - I noticed if i unscrewed the bleeding edge to much(more than half a turn) it would suck air into the caliper.... I knew the fix but deliberately left them and rode... felt fine but now once i started down a trail the bite point was moving all over the show. Took my bleed kit with me in truck and ONLY bled the caliper via unscrewing between 1/4 & 1/2 of a turn, vacuum bled and repressure... closed system...

The bike industry is full of things that scream poor design and manufacturing. It's far from a SRAM specific problem.

I think that narrative is awkward. But it does justify the scoring and placing a bit more. At the end of the day we aren't seeing what these riders would do on Luke or Talus line or whatever. About to replace a 180 Zeb on my Commencal meta SX (long shocked) with a 200 Boxxer. Will report how that works out… axel to crown looks roughly the same when side by side. I have a stumpy EVO that does 90% of my riding, this will be my gnarly trails/park/once a year DH race bike that I can still pedal if needed.

Another superior use case to the concept. What does the frame end up doing with the cascade? 170? Bike looks awesome. One of my buddies picked up the 'trail' version I think and I'm keen to sit on it some time. Mostly cuz I'll probably never own one, or any bike at that price point lol

I've gone back and forth between owning a dedicated DH bike and long travel FR bikes over the years. I've netted out that I prefer just having a full DH bike in the quiver at all times; they just erase things in a way the shorter travel can't - especially over a multi-day bike park trip. However, when the Shore came out it seemed like it was the perfect solution for what I wanted, essentially a full DH bike with a pedal-able seat tube angle, so I picked one up and it's been awesome.
