12/21/2025 5:43am That's nice to hear @dantecusolito ! It's nice to hear that this kind of engagement can also have an impact on customers. But pretty pictures and videos certainly are the better sales drivers. Great to hear you were able to pick up a second hand post. I am sure it will serve you well! @Mitch7MTB Thank you for the kind words. We are always happy to give smaller, genuine brands the same attention as the bigger ones. If we can help them we try to make it happen. I also hear what you are saying about how hard it sometimes...

12/19/2025 5:30am When I refer to "manpower" I am talking about our in-house capacity. We manufacture/assemble our posts in Taiwan in our own facilities with our own team of now 13 people. That means every single post is assembled by ourselves, not, as it is otherwise often the case, by a "partner"/factory/assembler who is contracted to do all the sourcing, manufacturing, assembly to get the product ready in the box to sell. We draw every single part, source the suppliers, have them made, get them to us and then put everything together in our own facilities with our own machines. No post...

12/15/2025 7:24am Others already said it, but we’re a narrow niche inside the bike world. Most people buy bikes based on price, performance, and looks. Unless Markus turned out to be the literal devil, most riders won’t care. And even within our little corner, plenty of people see him as a kind of “savior,” so it’s not like there’s consensus, outside this thread. There’s also a bit of hypocrisy here. I almost always judge a product on those same factors: price, performance, and looks. I’m not doing deep research on the CEO’s ethics, whether employees were treated well, or whether vendors got...

12/9/2025 2:22pm I think like most things this very much depends on where and what you ride. Here in Vancouver almost everyone I know is on a 160-180mm enduro bike. Our trails have a lot of big roots and big compressions so we’re using every bit of travel we can get. Even if you primarily shuttle to the top you’ll likely be pedalling at some point so you rarely see downhill bikes at Seymour.

11/27/2025 6:22am You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

11/27/2025 6:15am I tried to make this clear in my follow-up audio note, but I’m really not trying to throw shade at @Downtime Podcast or Chris. Two things can be true: Chris is one of the best hosts in the MTB world, and the Markus episode missed the mark for some of us. No podcast hits a home run every time. Every show I listen to has episodes where I think, “not for me” or “this one whiffed.” That’s normal. And the same is obviously true for my own content. In a way, Chris let Markus make his own bed. Anyone who...

11/27/2025 6:12am If your definition of making money in a cushy fashion is 4 days work for minus £40 and comments like this, then I must be that hanger on using mountain bikers for my benefit. Just to be clear, this was my decision to do this interview and I'm not unhappy about doing that at my cost. YT just covered the bulk of the travel to enable us to do it in-person, which I think provides not only a better quality audio and video experience for you all, but also makes the conversation flow better. This doesn't in any way change...

11/27/2025 6:10am Thanks to those who've taken time to write kind words about Downtime. I was expecting to get some hate for this episode as there is definitely a lot of frustration out there on this topic and Markus appears to be a very polarising character. For what it's worth, I put in the time to understand the concerns of the MTB world as much as was possible from forums etc and I believe that all those key points were covered in this interview. I also took time to understand the mechanisms of Private Equity and just why growth is essential and...

11/17/2025 10:55am What is wild to me, when I head to the other site the top comment is quick to scapegoat PE as the problem. While it very well may have been part of the issue, we can all agree it was not all of the issue. Looks like the PR tour is off with a bang...

11/7/2025 12:24am A lot of things in that article make sense, but if the participants in that think tank do nothing other than pledge to each other to never again write anything so full of trite platitudes and strained analogies as that article, that'd at least be something. If the whole bike thing doesn't work out, they can get into the horoscope business, and then diversify into fortune cookies. " Before solving symptoms, we need to understand the causes. Before taking action, we need direction. Before talking specs, we need purpose – and above all, a clear vision of where we want...

11/2/2025 5:13am The assertion that e-bikes decrease fitness is widespread. On the surface, the reasoning appears sound: riders often feel like they have expended more energy after a normal ride compared to an e-bike ride. Therefore, normal bikes must provide superior fitness benefits, right? Not quite. This surface-level analysis misses several crucial insights about how fitness actually works. Let's start with a simple fact: work done is work done, regardless of the bicycle beneath you. If you maintain the same effort level on an e-bike as you would on a traditional bike, you'll simply travel farther in the same time. In this...

10/26/2025 2:52pm People have been astroturfed into believing LLMs can do things they can't possibly do. There isn't going to be some utopia that exists in a post-AI world because AI simply can't do that much and there isn't a post-AI world where AI does everything. Yes, it's improving, but there is still a hard ceiling of what it is able to do and that ceiling is not going anywhere, nor are the numerous issues they face. In some industries, the product created by AI is OK and acceptable, think marketing for instance. Large scale data analytics is another one. These things...

10/20/2025 11:49pm Respectfully, it's more accurate to say " Pro tip, your super enduro will absolutely be acceptable for DH trails." No matter how good long travel single crown bikes are these days, there's still no replacement for displacement.
