So this is kind of hilarious to me because forbidden just ships a pile of parts along with a frame that isn't even put together. Having built/QC checked a lot of bikes from Transition, Ibis, Cannondale, Orbea, and Forbidden I can honestly say that the QC on the Forbidden frames are absolutely stellar, on par with Ibis carbon (Ibis alloy leaves a lot to be desired). Cavitation occurs when a pressure drop causes the local pressure to fall below the vapor pressure of the fluid. In the scenario you described, fluid was being aspirated by retracting a piston, which introduced a pressure drop due to flow restriction. At low actuation speeds, the flow rate was low enough that the vacuum generated could still draw the fluid through the system without issue. However, at higher actuation speeds, the pressure drop became large enough for the local pressure to fall below the fluid’s vapor pressure, releasing dissolved gases into the closed system and introducing bubbles. I’ve had a chance to rue the same frame with two chanstay lengths using +0 and +10 dropouts on my kavenz. The longer chain stay provides more front end grip more consistently and allows me to ride taller and further back behind the bars effectively increasing my “functional” reach on the bike. Similar perspective to some of the others but coming at it from a different angle: I live in a pretty flat area. I'm 5'7" and I have a mullet hardtail because I was concerned about tire-to-ass clearance. I come from bmx where my favorite thing was flowing around skateparks, doing gaps, and tweaking simple tricks. As a Tallboy and Nomad V6 owner, I feel the 5010 would be the ideal one-bike solution for me. Realistically, once racing stops being a priority, I could see myself replacing the Nomad with something in that category. The Tallboy excels on climbs and long rides, but on fast, moderately steep, rough trails (especially those packed with roots and rocks) I reach its limits fairly quickly. How a bike fits you in the sense of RAD or RAD angle is absolutely important, but I don’t think we can say that these numbers in isolation can replace looking at FC/RC balance. I guess the question is how picky are you? No disrespect intended, but I think this forum is an assembly of the nitpickiest nitpickers in the world when it comes to brake lever feel and power. The new XT and XTR brakes are totally adequate for mountain biking and ebikes, and if you need more power, you can pair them with a big thick rotor (like a 220mm/2.0mm SRAM HS2). Great question! I think there's a simple suspension principle that applies here, that as rider speeds and trail speeds go up, rebound should get faster. As speeds go down, rebound should slow down as well. And I think that decision to speed up or slow rebound comes down to two things: packing and pushing. 1. Packing: as you noted, as trails dry out, speeds tend to go up.
