There is merit in it to me. I came from Moto. I would set up my enduro dirtbikes bike with sky high bars and lowered footpegs to give a upright/strong riding position for long days. Coming to mtb I always struggled with the low stack heights. My current bike has relatively high stack, 40mm bars, 30mm spacers under the stem and a 462mm chainstay. I'm as close to riding a dirtbike as I've ever been. I feel "in" the bike now rather than on top of it. That security of been centered between the wheels is confidence inspiring. You utilize...

Sadly it seems like the best solution is going with a different brand that has a more robust trail casing. I just picked up a Gravity Pro casing Romy to replace my sliced Trail Pro version and as I'd expect it's a bit of a pig, but sturdy and nice to not have to worry about. It just seems like...

Gas Gas had the right idea with the moto-inspired replaceable plastics kits for their ECC ebikes. How many carbon frames become landfill waste from rock strikes or crashes where a sacrificial "fairing" could have taken the blow? If the industry wants to improve durability, this is the right place.

Would love to see this convo moved over to a thread called “thermoplastic debate/discussion” or similar. This is a dead end technology for now but I understand that a lot of you like talking about it.

If you haven’t already, check out Vital’s latest PIT BITS for a quick overview of Reece’s particular setup. While there is a lot of interesting tech on Reece’s bike, one defining feature is the prototype raised reversed stem manufactured by Be More Bikes. Reece combines this stem with high rise bars to create a tall stack with reduced reach. This allows Reece to extend at the hips more, creating a tall, upright riding posture. However, doing this causes his center of mass to shift backward, disrupting the front-to-rear weight balance on the wheels. To counteract this and redistribute weight back...

GG had a terrible implementation of cable guides, the frame was too heavy for the short travel stuff, and a lot of us just wanted a metal bike from them. When value added brands try to go bougie upscale it often ends in tears.

The telepathy bike has about 30mm of rearward movement at sag. It's designed with an axle path meant to mimic the fork's axle path and maintain a constant wheelbase. Haven't ridden it, so can't say if they're onto something there. I had a 1st gen Canfield Jedi. I think that thing had around 25mm rearward movement at sag. It cornered weird and jumped weird, but I eventually got used to it. I don't think the benefits outweighed the downsides though. There's no way that RMU bike has 30mm rearward travel at sag though. I think that's just some random marketing...

Anyone finding the Trail Pro radial casings incredibly thin in the sidewall? Just slashed one on some not that rocky terrain and I haven't had that happen in ages, even back when I was running Grid Trail casings and living somewhere far rockier. Plus just by hand they feel like by far the thinnest sidewalls of any >1100g tire I've...

For anyone who's curious what Weagle says about the Nighttrain suspension layout but doesn't want to scroll through IG comments, answering someone who asked about the design intent behind the bike: "Initially trying to gain a bit more mid corner traction on race bikes but as I hated [typo?] on the idea more and more I began to appreciate that it solves a lot of other issues. Definitely not an immediately intuitive benefit for me, it grew on me. In the end it turns out that by the numbers and by seat of the pants human pedaling a bike, this...

I'm not sure exactly what the TLR stands for, but Specialized has been using it for all their MTB tires for the past year or two, so the R sadly isn't radial. I'm still hearing that Specialized Gravity has a year of exclusivity on the radial Cannibal and Hillbilly, so they won't hit the market until this time next year...
