I'm not sure exactly what the TLR stands for, but Specialized has been using it for all their MTB tires for the past year or two, so the R sadly isn't radial. I'm still hearing that Specialized Gravity has a year of exclusivity on the radial Cannibal and Hillbilly, so they won't hit the market until this time next year...

Ok, let's bring back Procore, but that Italian version that used a modified tubular road tire so no inner tube. The valve is now smart and when your tire pressure drops it allows the air to blow out of your inner tire into the main one

Whoever suggested "ask the riders what to expect from them this season" needs to be canned. Quite possibly the worst and most pointless question one can conceive to ask an athlete. Literally only one answer. Provides NOTHING to anyone, the athlete, the production, the audience. In between that and the commentating (not being there?) I can't believe it's somehow gotten worse. I'll take Carlsons ghoulies at this point...

Even with a single pivot that directly actuates the shock it's more of a good approximation. The swing arm angle is a factor. The extreme angle being the swing rear axle is directly above the main pivot. In that case it doesn't matter what angle the shock is at because any vertical load is incapable of creating a moment. I suppose one could say that for a portion of travel the small angle theorem is accurate, but I by the time you've gotten to bottom of travel it's usually too large of an angle change for that.

The perpendicularity has some connection if you have a swingarm, I.e. only one suspension member. When you have multiple, it's always a combination of them so things can get a bit skewed.

If you use a power meter to follow power-based, zone-oriented training and a <32t chainring allows you to do so consistently and repeatably, you actually don't need a power meter, you need to train...in a gym? Flawless logic.

Yeah, as someone who does HR based zone-oriented training a <32t is pretty amazing when i need to haul a heavy bike up something in zone 2. Sure I could ignore what I'm trying to accomplish on that ride and muscle my way up things and blow myself up in the process, but that's not always what you need to be doing. And yes, I do go to a gym. My guess is that people who are saying "real bikers only need 32t" haven't actually ever followed a formal training plan, which tend to involve a lot of time in...

Hell yeah, thank you so much dudes. I had no idea how addicted I would get to DH fantasy last season. And all due respect to PB, but this format is 1000x better. It's way more fun to always have horses in the race, and also to learn what's what with juniors too.

2026 Global League has been created. Join to be eligible for prizes - https://www.vitalmtb.com/fantasy/leagues We're running the same program in 2026 Game opens after receiving the official qualifying start list and add rider values (should be sometime Weds next week for South Korea) - will announce when live here and the countdown clock will show up when game is live, too. Game closes a couple hours before Junior DH finals start time (which is 11:30am local time in South Korea), so those who want to keep tabs on who makes the show, can make stronger predictions. No season overall prizes...

Quoting measurements to 0.01mm on an aluminium mountain bike frame; they are very very over confident in the manufacturing capability of the factory.

Gott damn, Dave Weagle sure does love his short chainstays! Also the increase of ~3.5mm per size is near pointless. And yes I know CS length will grow at sag.

This (and the Pheonix's) linkage is slightly different than the DW6 on Atherton/Robot bikes. It is missing the chainstay pivot; it's more of a flex-stay DW6. Dave Weagle has himself jokingly referred to it as "DW5" or "DWF6".

For what it’s worth, the rear triangle on Alden’s Crestline e-bike frame that has been converted to a dh is being made stiffer for him. Provided he’s a tall guy riding hard.
