“Radial tires” “The plies are placed at a 65 degree angle” Both of those cannot be true. And, is this 65 degrees from horizontal or vertical?

Personally I don’t think it’s cool when brands post their own stuff here if it’s not being discussed directly. The Cascade guy is great because he weighs in on the conversation but just dropping your stuff here when nobody is talking about it comes across as a bit of a lazy marketing strategy. Post it on instagram and if people think it’s interesting it’ll get picked up. That being said it’s an awesome looking prototype!

They missed the DJI train but amongst that and a normal rear triangle, the lede was buried a bit: there's different links so you can change the travel in addition to modular dropouts if 435mm chainstays aren't your fancy

This. The energy dissipated is the same, the time doing it is different. If you have more flex (or more crumple zone), the distance of deceleration is longer. If the starting speed and end speed of this deceleration are the same, the average (and usually peak) deceleration are lower if the duration is longer. That's what gets you on the force front. Peak acceleration. F=m*a.

who failed ? The engineer who designed the caps for hexagon bolts? Or the fitter who just crammed in some Allen screws?

So glad I bought a new Frameworks Enduro frame instead not that I needed any more confirmation than the first ride though. If those geometry numbers are correct then that's pretty sad. Funny though if you added 20mm of stack and a 10mm rear flip chip for rear center length it would be instantly relevant. Ah well.

Fresh B Practice is live! - https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/daks-setup-getting-out-there-vitals-b… With how much stuff has launched the past week, I honestly don't remember what we talked about last Thursday when we recorded. I just remember it being fun catching up 👍

Was on Meatypaws for a few seasons but am rocking three layers of electrical tape beneath Swayze slip ons now. I'm not super OCD but that one little rib and the star pattern on the inside of the MPs kinda drove me nuts when rotating after a bit of wear. The tape is kinda neat because you get to choose your thickness, and as the grips wear in it conforms to your hand a little bit. And the Swayzes have the same uniform pattern throughout.

Simple dark horse thick grip option that I've fallen in love with this year is just cutting the core out of any old lock on grip, then sliding your favorite push on BMX grip over it. Ends up around meaty paw thickness but softer, longer lasting, cheaper to replace, and maybe more street cred?

What do you mean by “relative strength of forces”? This sounds like a misunderstanding of the physics as play within suspension. The conversation around unsprung mass relates to the acceleration of the wheel when it impacts a bump, and this acceptation is directly tied to the mass of the object being accelerated. While anecdotally you may not have noticed a difference in the added weight, 500-1000g is substantial. Apologies if I’m coming off strong, but I think it’s important to discuss anecdotal vs scientific/theoretical when talking about this stuff. I’m curious to see what Dave’s comments were on this. I’d...

This is the way. Rename the v2 Tech Rumors thread to 2026 Tech Rumors, pin it, close it on Dec 31, 2026. Rinse and repeat. Kinda similar on the MTBR NorCal forum that I also inhabit, there is a monthly thread dedicated to ride reports (and all their tangents and side conversations). Works really well and is easy to navigate/manage.

@sspomer I will join the other users who are disappointed with the closure of this thread. I get it from the logistical side of things, but not pinning a V2 seems like a miss, as many others are also arguing. It is significantly easier and more interesting to follow a single, banter-filled forum with an integrated community rather than dozens of much smaller forums that are in a constant cycle of dying out. This unique style of forum was the breeding ground of countless discussions and inside jokes, which I doubt would have taken place in a universe where it...

New thread each year like the race thread. Pin it to the top section. Jan 1 each year force the start of the new thread and un-pin the old thread. Seems simple. Kinda scratching my head how one thread with 1000 pages is more resources than 10 threads with 100 pages. Content is content and traffic is traffic is it not?

As someone who just doesn’t have the time to scroll through the front page of the Hub for new and interesting posts/threads all the time, I can’t say I’m overly excited about this decision. I really liked having the most interesting topic all neatly packed up into one single thread, which I could follow and catch up with the discussion every once in a while. Won’t be as easy and convenient for me to follow under the new format.
