6/5/2026 7:14am I will probably get flamed for this, and will offer the caveat that I have only been skimming this page, but I feel like these bikes are great propositions and are in my eyes cool bikes because they’re made to be cheap and practical workhorses for younger demographics that don’t have as much disposable income and want a playful park bike that they can maintain themselves. Maybe I’m just haven’t been following the thread well enough, but I don’t see why the ebike bit is necessary to explain the appeal. Not everyone can afford bougie boutique racing machines, or ebikes...

6/5/2026 7:13am Neither of those bikes are race-oriented. The bottlerocket is a freeride bike 27.5 front/rear. And the other is a Marin.

6/5/2026 7:12am What makes you say that? I think similar bikes have been super well received lately. The two that come to mind are the bottle rocket and the marin quake. Both bikes are similar basic and people are hype.

5/27/2026 1:39pm in my search for "downcountry" tires, i found good deals on some specialized tires. Going to try an eliminator t9 (im familiar with the tread pattern as a back tire) on the front and a purgatory t7 on the back, both the light grid casing. Will report back once i get some miles on them.

5/27/2026 4:25am Yep, but I'll wager it's still one of those 'too close' relationships. OneUp started out outside of Pon, Reserve didn't. That little distance may matter to some PMs, but having a uniform cockpit & wheel offering will also bring a bit of pull. Bar tape matching the saddle if you will.

5/27/2026 4:25am This already happened... the original rims were branded Santa Cruz. They then switched to Reserve branding.

5/22/2026 1:00am The Murmur has a rising rate (anti-progressive) and riders much better than any of us ride it with this coil shock, which to my knowlege has no HBO nor a progressive coil. The Yeti Switch Infiinty bikes all had/have progression less than 20% and they ride amazing. I know Mr. Cascade thinks anything with less than WC level progression is unridable, but I actually like less progression on a short travel bike. Keep it firm so you have something to push against and preserve geometry.

5/20/2026 9:30am Back to radial talk. 3rd ride on my Tacky Chan + Romy trail radial, and slashed the sidewall on the Romy. No idea how or where, no moment of "oh crap", on a trail I've ridden 50 times before without a puncture. Its been years since I've had a sidewall puncture, I used to puncture Exo+ on the bead or top of tread. Hoping it was a fluke but I'm concerned how thin they are for me. I'm going to patch it and keep trying. This was my concern switching from Conti enduro to the trail Schwalbe. Before the puncture...

5/19/2026 11:53am First ride with the Romy Trail Pro Diagonal Soft (what are we, Maxxis?) was a success! With the radial Magic Mary up front, it reminds me of a modernized version of my benchmark Vigilante Light/High Grip and Trail Boss Tough/Fast Rolling combo from WTB. It’s no XC tire, but it gives the Sentinel the pep I’d been missing when it comes to climbing and cornering.
