5/19/2026 11:51am This seems like such a ridiculous thing for RMU/Dave to lie about when anyone can just take an image of the frame and plot the points with reasonable enough accuracy to check it. The CS grows ~6mm at sag when measured horizontally and ~14mm when measured diagonally.

5/19/2026 11:03am mr Dave Weagle himself responded to a comment I left about the RMU Nighttrain, stating that the rear center does legitimately grow 30mm to 457.5mm at sag. I still don't believe it, especially because he's claiming it's "poppy and playful" but my range grows almost 30mm bottomed out and is not "poppy and playful".

5/19/2026 11:01am I can't speak for other countries, but I think distribution was the reason nobody bought GT bikes in the US, not the product. Everyone I knew who had a GT bike for the last six or so years seemed pretty stoked with it, but IIRC the only place you could buy one in most metro areas was through Dicks Sporting Goods, which is a great place to get an exercise ball but not a great place to buy a $5000+ mountain bike.

5/18/2026 1:25am I'd much rather fix a carbon bike with a damaged downtube than an aluminium bike with a crack. Between the two, my money would be on the carbon bike having the longer lifespan. Aluminium fatigue is a bitch.

5/16/2026 12:31am Take it easy buddy. I’m not trying to derail the entire conversation but also think it’s allowed to have an aside now and again. There’s plenty of off topic quips that go on in this thread.

5/16/2026 12:30am I’m not pro-Evil but dude this is like bringing up the Pinto as a reason not to get a new Ford. There may be plenty of relevant and current reasons but this isn’t one.

5/13/2026 2:17pm Don't feel bad. Life is political. Politics isn't some small aspect of existence that can be sequestered into a couple days just before elections. It is literally everywhere all the time having huge impacts on people's lives. Bike materials are political. Trail access is political. The ability to afford a bike - and therefore the folding or flourishing of the mountain bike industry - is political. The existence of rural hospitals is political. Ebike motors are political. The efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics is political. Is there any sort of innovation in that lane brands should be looking...

5/13/2026 5:43am Might be one in the minority here, but I always like having a bit narrower field of view for videos like this. Having the nearly 180 degree vertical fov and extreme fish eye affect because of it is off putting to me, and part of the reason I hate 360 degree cameras being used for pov shots. Great riding and love the follow cam for the stage though!

5/13/2026 1:15am I feel bad already about cluttering tech rumors with a politics post. Lets leave it here and I'll let someone make/revive a politics thread if they want to bitch more. In terms of thermoplastic vs epoxy carbon and the repair of frames, are carbon repairers able to work with thermoplastic? There are two carbon repairers in my city that do excellent work on bikes. All fairly affordable and straightforward. What happens if I approach them with a broken thermoplastic carbon frame? Ignoring theoretical repairability, is it currently practical/possible to fix?

5/13/2026 1:14am Well yeah, but it's stupid. It devalues the brand. It would be better to just list the bike at the lower price, make that the retail price shown, than to list a brand new model that doesn't seem to have had any press or marketing yet at a marked down sale price. Spots been in a tough spot for a while, and I honestly find what they're doing with the leaf spring link super interesting and want them to succeed.

5/13/2026 1:09am „Radial“ as used in the bike tire industry is already a spectrum of tread angles. If it was used as it should be, radial would only mean one angle, which is exactly radial to the wheel center. But it‘s the bike industry that likes to not give any fuck. Just use the so called diagonal tires, which are exactly what you want in the rear, with a steeper angle between the carcass treads.

5/13/2026 1:09am Correct my misunderstanding, but could we describe radial as a spectrum? Could we hope and pray for rear specific, faster rolling, semi-radial, or radial-light, tires in the future?

5/12/2026 12:38am There is merit in it to me. I came from Moto. I would set up my enduro dirtbikes bike with sky high bars and lowered footpegs to give a upright/strong riding position for long days. Coming to mtb I always struggled with the low stack heights. My current bike has relatively high stack, 40mm bars, 30mm spacers under the stem and a 462mm chainstay. I'm as close to riding a dirtbike as I've ever been. I feel "in" the bike now rather than on top of it. That security of been centered between the wheels is confidence inspiring. You utilize...
