$100k+ hahaha A nice, decked out Sprinter Van is like $200k USD. That thing is $450k+ (They do mention having guy do a bunch of the work in-house--so many didn't pay 'retail')

Gravity bike disciplines just don't make money and german speaking countries have sometimes very anti-mtb culture with straight up bans of bikes on all fireroads and trails enforced with hefty fines (austria).

My $8000 bike I bought a year ago with a clutch derailleur still sounds like garbage so I think they still need to work on it.

Your point is valid but I’d take it a step further and say hell no to a light bike due to safety. In my view, frame failures (especially DH bikes meant to hit huge features) are just as bad as helmet failures, full stop.

BK says why not have a light frame, not sure the warranty department will agree with him. Seems an odd goal to go for with a modern DH bike, sure make it not a tank, but weight weenies aren't buying DH bikes.

"Privateer" Booker wins on flats on an SC Bronson after taking the final stage. HH wins on belt driven gearbox alum monster of a bike. Fantastic and unbelievably close racing! We need a bike check on both of these bikes.

0.3 seconds over 48 minutes of racing is 0.01 PERCENT difference in time, that is unbelievable. I cannot wait for the next rounds have in store.

Hattie did win the EDR Overall last year on a derailleur. I don't think her winning or not winning is something a person could pin on a drivetrain. She seems to be good on bikes. ...she also has won in XC, Cyclecross. I get the feeling she's just really damn fast on a bike a knows how to win.

IIRC corrosion resistance and plating were expensive challenges that stopped production of the steel SweetWings. The steel cranks were over 150g heavier than ti. So, if labor costs are similar, with an increased cost for plating, and a saving for the steel material vs titanium, perhaps a steel version would cost almost the same as Ti eeWings but weight more than SLX. I imagine much if not all of the tooling for Ti could be used in fabricating steel.

I just got a Storia v3 for a Firebird and have really struggled. Gushing noises aside, this is the loudest shock I’ve had. Unacceptably loud. I just got a lighter tune and spring and it’s even louder. Sounds like a water bottle bouncing off the top tube, but I had no water bottle. Very distracting while riding. I reached out to a local tuner and he had this to say: We can also remove the divider ball in it to quiet things out by a lot and also it will softlen the damper feel. Just keep in mind that after...

What's amazing with this design is that Canyon have decided a single pivot is good enough to control the axle path, braking behaviour and pedalling behaviour but the leaverage rate requires a 6 bar linkage and all the additional complexity and hardware associated with that.

Nothing really new here, but EXt working on some "normal" looking mud gards! Hope that fox offers a similar one in the future. Gives the USD fork kind of a more "normal" look. (I say normal just because im not used to USD forks in mtbs, but they do look good)

Last year I rode all season on a Mazza Race upfront which is probably around 1.4kg and while that looks like a beast, the amount of grip it offered, I never ever told myself at the end of the trail "I wish I had a lighter tires"... all I said was "damn, that was fast" while constantly beating my times and having more fun by simply going faster. Im all for nerding the things out, but sometimes those 200grams or so that might feel like a big difference are not what one should be focusing on.
