Yeah rule number one of illegal trail building is don't use any wood or screws. Besides the fact that it looks more illegal and permanent than piles of dirt, my understanding is that wooden structures of any sort leave the land manager more legally exposed. Crashing and getting hurt on a dirt trail is different in the eyes of the law than crashing and getting hurt on a structure made of imported construction materials that should have been permitted and engineered for safety.

I think this is more likely referring to contract extensions clauses of +1 year like you see in other sports (football, F1 etc.)

I know it's not DH, but interesting: Cannondale XC is folding for 2027. Enve has a made-in-USA XC bike almost ready to debut, possibly at Soldier Hollow Utah UCI race. (Enve is based in Utah and owned by Utah cyclists) Cannondale team and staff will transition into the Enve XC team for 2027

When the stumpy 15 dropped they did a PB podcast and they also basically said “yeah no evo, it has to special/gnarly to get the evo name” That lasted like less than a year, I think their philosophy is pretty money centric lol.

Specialized has always been clear that they wouldn't risk diluting the name of their stumpjumper or enduro by naming their ebikes the same thing. They have a lot of brand identity/pride/ego wrapped in those product line names. Unless they've done a complete 180 on their philosophy, there's never gonna be an e-stumpjumper or e-enduro.

Having come from riding bikes for the last 5 years with AR values in the 50-55% range, I really, really like that my Vessel out of the box with a floating brake arm, linkage driven single pivot, sits at 70ish AR, and is adjustable in both directions. I don’t know the exact numbers but have been adjusting the link to increase AR, as I feel that there’s a balance to strike depending on the rider and I personally prefer a higher 75-90% AR to settle the bike down. In really steep stuff my Madonna is a little nose heavy, the...

Low anti rise comes with the bike pitching forward which is probably not ideal on flats, but high antirise comes with harsher suspension under braking which is also not great. Maybe 100-120% strikes the balance for Martin

Getting a screenshot on insta reels is super hard! but I spotted this bracket with 2 positions. I got some rough measurements from the those other pictures to estimate the change in Linkage (I don't think the model in there wasn't super accurate either) and yup, it probably increases the AR to 100-120%

Did somebody already notice Martin Maes' floating brake arm on his Rallon? Don't remember seeing that mentioned, but it caught my eye in the Lawlor G-out video that Spomer just posted. Seen at one minute 15 seconds in. If Martin's on flat pedals, I wonder if that has anything to do with his thinking around anti-rise. The Rallon DH is around 60-65% AR, which is really really low, so if anything this brake arm would likely be designed to give it more anti-rise to make it squat on the brakes. I don't know if high or low AR is better...

I keep seeing Yeti employees up at Trestle on the DH bike. I have to wonder if it’s going to release to the public soon.

There is only one link down by the BB so it's a flexure. In my mind there are two distinct approaches to flex that we see. There's the method where there's one particular point (realistically a short section) on either the chain stay or seat stay that is designed to provide pretty much all the flex or there's the method where you're relying on deflection of essentially a cantilevered beam. This would be the latter.
