Eliot is the best commentator in the biz. Full stop. I'll take the slow jank uphill bits over fast, straight motorway, which is boooriiing. Some riders made it look smooth and fast, others stalled out. It was hard, which is the point. Hardline is way cooler than Rampage.

Good day up on the hill. Asa laid down a heater in the middle section that couldn’t be matched. Big congrats to him. Clouds are starting to roll in so it was a good call moving it forward although the women got the short end of that. Wanted to see Lina and Tayte ride as well. Sucks that we haven’t seen a lot of rain the past few months but the worst days were for practice here and the World Cup. Wasn’t a fan of those uphill sections going into today and even less of a fan now. Lol. Slowed...

Millie just posted a clip of Gracey and Tayte hitting the final jump together with a comment that it unlocked the full course for both of them.

I'm pretty sure Tayte Proulx-Royds is a privateer (rode a Polygon this year). She improved all season while racing Jr's, earned an invitation to Project 17, and is riding hardline this weekend. At just 17, she could be an excellent lower-cost pickup for some teams with lots of upside.

They should load everyone up and decide it at Cypress next week

Canadian Ryder Wilson wins his first World Cup (best previous finish was 4th at Whistler), followed by Boatwright and Forlin.

was he trolling or bait casting?

Big shout out to Wyn for the pits video. Those little insights we learn about Jacob Jewetts shoulder, Gwin being the last one to leave the pits and Mad Maxs brake levers captures these athletes in a way that the morons from WBD will never be able to when they shove a mike in front of them. Hope he has a long future in downhill when he stops racing.

having the three Canadians get in q2 and the other riders that did put it together is great for the sport. If I'm not mistaken, all 3 - the Jewetts and Helly - each had their best day ever as an Elite World Cup rider. Add in Proulx-Royds, Wilson and De Vall with their top 5 finishes in Juniors and there was so much to celebrate. I'd love it if UCI would work MSA back into the schedule and have 3 North American races each season. (Probably never happen, I suppose, but still... )

@sspomer @shredder_schroeder can we get a debrief podcast of your guys experience- what you saw, heard, take away, etc. I think it would be interesting to hear you guys take, being media squids (respectfully). Especially looking at Jason’s experience in Europe from when he was racing to now, what he felt. Literally everything. Plz.

I thought it was the fuks. He had zero fuks after that

I'd be curious to know if there's anything unique about the Whistler track and if there is then what are the teams doing in terms of kit or setup to account for this.

Could we get a wheel count? Tally of how many wheel rebuilds by the teams/riders over the weekend, there looks to be a lot of random rocks around the course, definitely not as brutal as fort bill, but it's always fun to hear how many bike parts a pro burns through in a weekend.

Oh my gosh there are some negative Nancies in here. I’d rather pay even $22 and know it’s helping to pay athletes than throw money at WB and MAYBE get to see race runs that aren’t interrupted by literally anything else they think has higher ROI. I bet every single person reading this thread spends more than $11 every time they go to a coffee shop. That stupid (delicious) cardamom latte could help pay for high quality DH racing. I know I’ll be paying for this, come join me on the virtual couch.

Warner and Wyn doing the broadcast commentary

We love the World Cup series! This event is genuinely not intended to compete with this or any other event series. We have plans to add a New Zealand event in 2028, and a third southern hemisphere event to follow. Ultimately this will be a 3 round ‘off season’ series where riders have an opportunity to race year round and earn top prize money. This also gives fans an opportunity for more year round race coverage and broadcast.

Get Semenuk in there, hell Steve, Brage, Remi, any others in the general vicinity that would give us even more fun content would be awesome to see added. They did that sort of thing with Matt Jones at the other ones

Judging by how many riders have come to whistler to ride early I’d say the racers are happy it’s a stop now.
