3/25/2025 1:53pm Cero also did frame design for Orbea and Mondraker among others Unno was/is his own brand, and that DH bike you linked is already pretty old at this point

3/21/2025 3:39am I've had a few new fox products, including the one released today, in my hands over the last few weeks and while I'm not a fox fan boy, the feel and look of the new 34SL, - Redacted- and - Redacted- are certainly a bump up from the previous gen. It'll be interesting to see how they review. The 34SL is stupid light in your hand.

3/18/2025 7:15am I would guess a load cell / strain gauge setup to measure braking force separate from fluid pressure. More reactive as brake force changes with brake pressure and wheel location. Could be just to monitor rider input could also be to measure how different kinematics effect brake force and suspension travel.

smelly Liked a reply to forum topic Carbon rims On enduro style bike, general consensus?
3/7/2025 10:55am Y’all are absurd with your warranty demands. I’ve destroyed a lot of wheels in my 25+ years of riding. It’s NEVER been the wheel’s fault. Worked in shops for a long time - can count on one hand the number of times a whee was destroyed because of a rim defect. Was a carbon wheel holdout until this year, got some WA1s. Third ride out, got off line at warp speed and double flatted, multiple holes in both tires, needed 6 plugs and a bacon strip to patch it. Surely would have at least flat spotted alloy wheels, but not...

3/4/2025 3:25pm The Vorsprung shock is somewhat similar to a CC Double Barrel in that they are both twin tube designs like Ohlins pioneered. The Telum has the most interesting design out of the bunch with a solid main piston and very unique means of adjusting the compression and rebound damping curves. It wins "showroom feel" as well, I have never felt a shock so supple and smooth. Perhaps a twin tube shootout with Cane Creek, Ohlins, Fox DHX2, and Telum? We're just getting started, big plans for the future. 👍

3/4/2025 3:18pm Definitely trying to get a slice of that "i need a full power full suspension bike path basher but can't be trusted to brake or shift on my own" pie. Would look sweet on the new Rail.

3/3/2025 5:02pm wonder if it'd be worth renting a car from jan to march and just living at TOTW parking lot to snag shots of stuff being tested?

2/27/2025 4:30pm what about applying it drunk the night before a ride, spilling half the lube on the floor then wiping the excess off the chain with a rag which is my current go to method?

2/27/2025 4:29pm TLDR: More volts = more betterer for design, and battery requirements, but not a huge impact to the end user if the design is done right. Complicated question and answer. There isn't a massive reason to favor a 48v system over a 36v system. The biggest advantage to a higher voltage system is within the formula/equation for current/watts/amps. Said another way... Amps = Watts / Volts. Here is an example... Assuming 750w power request/output by the motor. 750 watts / 48 volts = 15.6 amps 750 watts / 36 volts = 20.8 amps Batteries are generally more efficient the less...

2/27/2025 4:29pm This is a fact. A bolted joint is essentially springs in parallel so you sum the stiffness of the aluminum portion of the joint and the stiffness of the bolt portion of the joint. Like anything, it can be done well or poorly. Fun fact, I know someone who was going car brakes and thought it would be fun to swap the steel bolts for titanium bolts. The titanium bolts were not as stiff and they started having issues with leaking due to the caliper halves separating under high pressure.

2/27/2025 4:27pm The bolts are torqued and pre-tensioned so they are not a passive element and are acting on the stiffness of the caliper in a different way, all other things being equal this can result in a stiffer caliper than an equivalent 1 piece design. You can do a bad job of designing either type of course.
