8/16/2024 11:27am Thoughts on this? https://www.instagram.com/loopsdrive/ Imagine if behind your cassette was a 42 tooth cog, and thats where the "pawls" engage instead of in the hub.

8/15/2024 11:24am 100% Agree. Imagine walking into your local bike shop wanting to update your aging mondraker enduro bike. - Hello, I'm looking for a new enduro bike. - Ah yes, take a look at this Foxy. - No, sorry I must not have been clear, I want an enduro bike, like 160mm of travel, not a trail bike. -Foxy it is! Oh well, we call it the superfoxy now and it is 170/160mm. -Oh ok, sorry I didn't keep up with the name changes, but can I still get a Dune? -Of course sir, right this way, 170/165mm hard hitter, beautiful...

8/14/2024 7:41am Greg retires from racing and Loris goes to Norco with Greg helping him develop and test.. They both live in Andora. It's Greg's team and he will want someone capable of winning right away.

8/14/2024 7:40am can we please get back to rumors and stop the compression, damping and leverage ratio talk in here. pretty sure there must be a nerding out on suspension thread in here somewhere 😊 THX!!!

8/14/2024 7:32am Three example bikes with different progression and same amounts of travel. All straight lines for the sake of simplicity. Force at the wheel due to spring rate alone with each bike having identical sag at the wheel (stiffer spring for more progressive bike). Lets say you are railing a long long berm and your rear wheel needs to support 400 lbs of force… if the berm is long enough shaft speed goes to zero (save for bumps in the berm of course) so spring is what holds you up. 27% bike will sit at 180mm of travel used and 37%...

8/14/2024 7:27am I don't find it perplexing at all that a more progressive design uses more travel for the same impact. The point of having progression is that it's softer at the beginning to absorb repeated small and medium impacts, but still retains bottom-out resistance. "Softer" means it uses more suspension travel for the same impact compared to a more linear design. The RM Altitude is designed for janky riding where there are a lot of small, unpredictable impacts that sap speed. Think places like BC, the northeast US, and lots of Europe. Riding in such terrain requires suspension to quickly react...

8/14/2024 7:23am It'd be nice to keep this thread on topic "tech rumors and innovation". This thread has been so off topic the last few weeks / months even. Ask yourself "does my comment have to do with tech rumors and or innovation"? If no, stop. Heres a quick guide to others places to chat about various other hot topics. 8/9/2024 7:38am Dannys track preview. Looks insane. Its the steepest track I've ever ridden (one of those that any camera will never do justice), with this wide taping its literally going straight down the mountain, lines looks crazy. Amazing job Ben!

8/9/2024 7:35am Ok forgive the quality I drew this on on canva.com with a touchpad, after work I can CAD it up but hear me out- a dampen(ing?) reservoir attached to the rim to control tire rebound. You pump your tires up to like 40 PSI, but then this reservoir has a piston that moves up and down that allows your tires to have a real, effective larger air volume but when you compress the piston to get more air volume the piston returns based on a rebound shim stack EDIT this could live in the hub and use a hollow spoke...

8/8/2024 7:58am These videos are so valuable to the state of #USDH. Thank you everyone involved! My quick notes watching: - Commentator crew and production is dialed, and so hyped to have our dog Griz chopping it up in the booth. - Sweet 'fun facts' during race runs. So polished and pro. - I wish the track was longer, but damn, does it make for intense racing. - The UCI rule about fastest time of day juniors wearing elite sleeve is wack IMO. I'd like to still see national sleeves in each category at World Cups. - Anna is hauling this year...

8/6/2024 7:40am My $0.02... Yesterday was a tough day for a lot of people. The absolute most unfortunate event that we could imagine, happened. Rumors spread like wildfire once the course hold went into effect. At one point I think most people thought that the event was going to be canceled. I am thankful that it wasn't. I met Scott at the US Open two years ago and I absolutely know that he would want racing to go on despite what happened. He was a great soul and a true racer. Ironically, my son got to know Scott pretty well the past...

8/5/2024 9:38am I generally enjoy that podcast but that was a huge miss for me. I hit stop and haven’t restarted it… turns out “I have a secret but I’m not telling” is always a bummer.

8/5/2024 9:35am Here's a great chart of the move to Trek. It's about streaks if you compare Loris & Loic Like shooters in basketball...they get on hot streaks Has podiumed this year. Results over span of 4 different teams since 2015 have gotten more consistent. He's less "Checkers or Wreckers". Last 2 World Cups have been anomolies for everyone with the complete switch of conditions for the race itself. When Loic comes across fist pumping over a salvage run, it's an anamoly.

8/5/2024 9:29am More likely it’s not a big enough change from the Evo and people don’t see the value in selling their current bike for an abysmal sum and then paying Spesh rrp prices.

8/5/2024 9:28am That is a really good question. In theory you can get identical reactions at the wheel, however it’s one of the scenarios where theory and reality don’t really meet. To get truly identical performance you also have to tune the shaft speed at which the shock transitions from LSC to HSC. Without doing that, the bike with the longer shock (assuming equal progression and all) will be out of LSC sooner. With the adjusters you’ve got on a typical shock there isn’t really control over that transition specifically. Whether being out of LSC sooner or later is preferable is debatable...

8/4/2024 8:00pm Not to be a downer (and many are already aware), but a cat 1 30-39 category rider passed away as a result of injuries sustained during his race run. This caused a 2-hour delay on start times and quite a few riders DNS'd on their race runs out of respect/sorrow. We had already left since we weren't doing Downhill and needed to get home, but communicated (as well as you an communicate with people in the data vaccuum of Ride Rock Creek) with folks on the ground. Pretty sad and somber situation.
