7/1/2024 8:46am I don’t see how a smaller (yet big) European DH race getting canceled with two weeks’ notice is anything but a bad thing for anyone looking to create and maintain a smaller (yet big) DH series in Europe. I’ve heard many people suggest the European national series and IXS cups are a great way for young riders to cut their teeth in preparation for a world cup career. They give UCI points, right? Whether official farm team feeder style or standalone organization isn’t really the issue. (The issue is a big race at a recognizable venue was canceled.) Not sure...

6/30/2024 8:55am I've been running the Argotal SS DH this year and it is great on the occasional hardpack. The tire is very square due to the tall side knobs but once you roll it over it don't squirm much and is very stable. The grip in loose dirt, shale/scree and loam is just mind blowing. Highly recommend! Edit: whoops! Noticed the tire nerd thread just now.

6/28/2024 8:42am it's not racist, they've just been dumb copying trickstuff, if they just came out with their own shape it would've been amazing, but of course nobody would talk about them or even buy them

6/28/2024 8:34am On the Stumpy and proprietary shock. In the pinkbike podcast they discussed a new patented shock design that they use on the world cup. The way I heard it was the intention was to adjust the damper curve control the last 20% of travel in a more controlled manor than with tokens (or whatever a shock ramp is called). They said in order to get the feeling they want for 80% of the riding that they needed less progression of the design, but then blows through the end with a subset of aggressive riders (which is a common thing I...

6/28/2024 8:32am maybe they're trying to have a strong enough shock that doesn't fail with the yoke, considering what happened when they put their hands into a shock ( autosag ) it's gonna be a hot piece of shit most likely

6/28/2024 8:31am Like Fox Brain or Reaktiv? Not really excited for a bike coming with a special shock. The past shown it was never a way to go. What a bummer if true.

6/28/2024 8:29am I have an unreleased 140/150mm bike in the shop that comes stock with a Fox 36 and Mavens type build kit with a completely new inline fox shock with the bike manufacturers logo on it and a HUGE air can. It's very strange to see an inline shock on a build like this so I'm interested in whats going on with it. Apparently next week we'll know. It kind of looks like an RP23 with a high volume air can but 1.5x the size

6/24/2024 3:33pm I dont think the course was too technical, i just dont think they should line those sections with rock walls. Theyd have more line options if they left that boulder field open without the rock barriers. The technicality would still be there, which is great in mtb, but those inbedded rock walls are unnecessary hazards, excessive consequences

6/24/2024 7:34am Wait have you actually seen someone break a King hub? What part of it broke? While I generally disagree with your big guys breaking more stuff anecdote I'll bite on that. The last 25 years of my life have been spent as a mechanic, service writer and later warranty/tech support for bike companies, I've seen more than my fair share of broken stuff. Normal-sized young dudes sending it break the most bike parts, and older big guys complain the most about it. There is some crossover in the middle of course... I've broken every frame, rear rim and hub I've...
