I think Finn lost the race on the first left hander in the last section. Anecdotally, he looked to visibly brake far earlier than everyone else in that turn.

Maybe we should have said "relatively" affordable, but still, compared to EXT's own high-end shocks and others on the market, the price is very competitive for the features and performance you get here. Hence "affordable excellence" was the headline.

Why would EXT let people butcher their products at home. Very few people can even set up suspension correctly let alone have the tools and brains to maintenance these.

I think there was a massive change in rampage when they started giving the dig crews more access to water. They can build such fat lips and packed in landings with water that it ups the amplitude of what’s possible.

when i heard about specialized auburn facility closing, i figured that since the demo is obviously baked and ready for production (based on WC bikes), stumpy15 is out and maybe enduro is done (no idea), that they prob figure they don't need an off-site suspension and long-travel bike development lab for half a decade or more. would have to believe their focus is going to be on motor/battery tech in the future.

Fun fact, my friends dad is on that federal appeals court bench, and normally it is the sleepiest job in the federal government, because they only oversea boring maritime trade law and cases of contested ownership or liability between international corporations, etc. This time, ruling on Trump's sweeping tariff regime, was a little bit spicier than normal.

Just too add as a side note. I pick up a year old 10kg 120mm bike with an sl 34 up front from a mate who used to race xc, so it wasn’t set up how I like a bike. Bit of serving and tuning (snapped the front rim in a berm dt sec1200) race recons f&r for a forkaster...

So looking at it from a conservation of energy standpoint, yes you have to slow down a rotating wheel. Where it gets interesting is when, assuming no slipping, you write out the wheels energy in terms of your velocity. Bigger wheel rotates slower. In the end the radius of the wheel is not included in the energy equation. This is because angular velocity (ω) in rad/s is v/r. Kinetic energy of a rotating mass is (1/2)*I*(ω^2). Since I is proportional to m*r^2, assuming hub is negligible for simplicity, the r^2 term is canceled out by ω^2, which is (v^2)/(r^2). In...

This post answers the thread in a nutshell. I'm super super fussy with brake feel and input. I'm not a great rider, so tend to over brake compared to the really fast riders. Descents are regularly 500-700m and 1-3km long. So plenty steep. Ground conditions aren't always ideal, so heavy braking required when you can, to get through the chutes where there's less control. I ride the same tracks repeatably and have swapped pads, rotors etc quite often (I generally only run a rotor for 2 sets of pads, replace them as soon as theres any tracks or concavity), and...

I should clarify my opinion here: Rotors are getting far too heavy and thick for anything less than trails and riding at the top-tier of difficulty and racing. And even there, those guys and gals aren't working the brakes as much as Joe and Jane Average rider. "Which caliper piston diameter is better," "which master cylinder piston size is better," "which lever actuation ratio..".....and so on are all questions that have multiple variables attached to them so anecdotal isolation is damn near impossible. Assuming the same brake, the same rotor with exactly the same material ingredient list, exact same surface...

Here is the official retirement announcement from Camille Balanche - what an incredible career she has had, stepping into the sport so late (only a couple of years after picking up her first bike!), and achieving what she did is no mean feat. Congrats on the career Camille, all the best for the next steps!
