I was one of the early adopters of the stumpy evo in 2019 I lost count of how many shocks I blew up, I'm guessing 8... Fox, rockshox, cane creek x 4, EXT.... all ate the sausage. Thanks yoke clevis & Obama.

Yeah that’s just it. Specialized don’t see the warranty because they push it all to Fox and RS. And then there’s the shocks that are sent off for service when they could be warrantied. And even then there’s the riders that just don’t realise there’s a problem

what would be the advantages other than lazy design? it seems just dumb to use a shock extender that is known to cause premature seal failure, side loading and snaps coil, it doesn't even feel that good. i've had one and it was garbage, a friend had a levo and it went through 3 shocks in 6 months, that's just crap.

All mtb use bridges should have a 3rd railing board running paraleel that butts against the walking treads. Creates a catch/berm for any front wheel that slips so you can't slide off and slam the posts or worse. I've only seen a few MTB specific bridges with it & only noticed how valuable it was when it saved me once.

Because I'm a stinky guy, but man this morning I just got back from a 3000+ vert ride in the sun and I sweated like Fauci at a Senate hearing but when I got home my wife commented how my merino wool jersey (51%, $25 on sale at EVO) had 0 BO smell. This isn't the first time this miracle has manifested. Also, I feel it is excellent in the cold (sub 55 degrees) and heat as well.

Very curious to hear what the riders think; all that wood is gonna be lethal if it rains and those vertical rock lane dividers look stupid-dangerous if someone crashes there...

Still too nuanced. The elite field is way deeper and way more trained now. Just like almost everything else, like supercross. You don't really get to be a semi-muscular party animal who rocks up to the hut and takes first these days. And a lot of times the tracks are getting short and bike parky to create tighter racing... Although that doesn't describe VDS at all. And then of course modern bikes. Not only are they clearly better BUT they are significantly better for outlier body types. Looking at Amaury's GoPro of his winning run (embedded below), the first thing that stands out is the pure mix of aggression and flow. The amount of speed he manages to generate in some of those sloppy, greasy turns is quite simply incredible. The second thing is the precision. Insane! I've always loved Cane Creek rear shocks because of the external controls. You don't have to worry about buying the right tune, if you lose weight, swap frames, etc you can get the tune to where your super flat Starling Murmur stays off the bottom, or your super progressive YT Jeffsy will actually use all its travel. That being said, having a custom tune done correctly rides so incredibly well. My EXT Storia rides like dancing on a cloud. They are $850 new right now, about $200 more than you can get a DHX2 for, and not only rides better...

Honestly all they need is a heavy damping/light damping option to cater to 99% of riders. You're either a lightweight, or a big Boi when it comes to suspension. Currently, lightweight riders get too much compression, and slow rebound. Big Bois like myself get too little comp, and rebound that's a little fast. My last CCDB had a ridiculously large adjustment window, but the big two need a light/heavy damping option IMO.

Good to see a more varied track compared to the previous 3. Much more slow speed tech. This round's track and condition are going to throw my fantasy picks way off but I'm too lazy to make changes now.

Problem is with the current euro-focus of the schedule, all the teams are effectively euro based. See the trucks and pits they have for all those rounds, compared with what they show up with to NA or Aus races. Its fairly obvious which round(s) become the drop round if we are talking about just deliberately not showing up to save money.
