~$500 dollars for a set of ‘DH’ crowns to ‘upgrade’ your dual crown forks which should have already been optimized for DH is diabolical. Let me just make my $2000 forks 25% more expensive because I got sold inferior crowns.

Yesterday I spoke with a guy who rode a couple of EDRs and would always ride xtr mech since forever but he was on a sram. He said not only the chain slap was unbearable on the new di2 xtr but he would also drop chains pretty much daily, to the extend the top of his crank which cought the chain became all scratched... The shifting was absolutely amazing but the reliability is horrible and he also noticed shimano sponsored enduro pros would run full dh chain tensioners or STFUs just to keep the chain on, which is mindboggling how...

I agree 100%. Those guys looked like they were racing but having such a great fun time. And the scenery. OMG. How to not be distracted by the mountains and crash. Concentration 😀

I’ve been enjoying the coverage of EDR that we’ve had for Loudenvielle. Elliot Heap is really good, especially at the rider interviews and the highlights are a decent mix of raw videos and head cams. Very enjoyable.

The point about defence spending having a positive affect on the rest of the economy- in my lectures this was talked about using the concept of the multiplier effect. This is the idea that if someone, ie the state, spends £1 on something then it increases national GDP by some amount because that’s been spent at a local supplier, who then pays wages, their employees go to the local butcher, who buys from the local farmer, etc etc. The issue with defence spending is it has a comparatively poor multiplier effect vs other forms of government spending. You are correct, thanks for making mention before I could catch up in this thread. On longer climbs I would take the chain off but most times I just wouldn't care to. The bigger problem was the chain length in my largest rear cog when using the lower guide, only a problem during climbing though. The system was great while descending. But I just run the ochain now instead of the lower guide because it's manages the chain whipping and is less faff.

Sort of a tech rumour? Remy looks to be on an Avalanche damper in his latest video. We know Vorsprung is working on a new damper, and they had noted they’ve been testing all the other options (including Avy).

It’s a vertical shock alignment similar to the old Diamondback Knucklebox design (mentioned above) or a Propain. Nothing to patent. It’s just a Utah County based company thinking it needs overdo marketing as they’re prone to do. Utah is the land of perceived aesthetics.

They're starting a company and building a factory to get to 30 million electric motors per year by 2030? Per year? 30 million? Is this a joke? Should that be billion? I work for a moderately small automotive supplier in freaking Slovenia and we probably make more than a million electric motors from our designs, by components, in a year. I'm not taking into account all the small DC motors from the likes of Johnson which are a commodity. I'm talking about stepper motors and BLDC drives that are similar to what's in ebike drives.
