5/31/2026 3:31am Have not noticed any significant drag on my OneUp hubs but keeping that in the back pocket as an excuse the next time I'm last up the climb on a group ride.

5/31/2026 3:28am This already happened... the original rims were branded Santa Cruz. They then switched to Reserve branding.

5/28/2026 4:47pm The World Cup lands in the familiar setting of Loudenvielle, France for the 2nd round of DH in 2026. The Europe-based race means that getting new bikes, parts, pits and products to the venue is a lot easier than round 1. That means plenty of craziness to peep in the pits. photos by Rick Schubert Antidote Solutions' AS05 bike - Learn all about it here.

5/28/2026 12:38pm Mayb the thread should be retitled, something like “tech rumors and innovation… and bitching about it.”

5/28/2026 12:35pm Guys I think you are reaching too far in to this - VPP was never any better or worse than other links out there, but the new layout makes a lot of sense from a packaging perspective so there are many legitimate reasons for the change. Also no disrespect to GT, but they haven't had a massive impact for a while as far as I can tell, but SC has plenty of good resources of their own - there is no reason they would be looking to GT for ideas

5/28/2026 12:35pm I can confirm the REEB SST works quite well with a coil. Did 40+ miles and 9500ft descending last weekend. It would benefit from 440+ stays but overall it rips!

5/28/2026 12:34pm Short travel coil king is probably Banshee Prime, 135 out back up to 160 up front, somewhere between 25-30% progression and goated geo. On one side it is like the dumbest bike ever because it doesn't work with air shock at all (even tho it comes specced with one), which means you have to slap coil on it, and once you have coil you wanna go fast but you have 130mm of travel so you have to put on some DH tires.... and you end up with 16 kg+ trail bike which is not ideal because you basically end up...

5/22/2026 12:53pm A bunch of comparisons mainly looking at wheel force because that's what you really feel not the leverage curve. 160 mm bikes with different progression amounts normalized for identical sag at the wheel. Including -4%. The wheel force plot is purely looking at wheel force due to the spring. As you can see, there is a very significant difference at bottom of travel. If you were to zoom in on the sag point, you can easily see that a more progressive bike has a lower force at all points before the sag point and a higher force at all points...

5/22/2026 4:15am I recently read an article by the enduro mag. They made a survey and found out that 70% of their readers that took part in the survey never changed their rebound from what the bike came with. The amount of people riding bikes that dont have a clue about basic setup is very high. For them, something like the progression rate is not relevant. We are all so far off the average user that we are not who brands have to engineer their bikes for. https://enduro-mtb.com/performance-gap-das-dilemma-moderner-bikes/

5/21/2026 4:11am No, definitely not just tuning via the base valve. But it is modified from stock for all the options being tested. The stock base valve setup on the Bomber CR/Fox Van is quite stiff and uses belleville washers. All three tuning options (Avalanche Racing, Fluid Focus, and Shockcraft) remove the belleville washers and convert the base valve to a more traditional shim stack. All three use different base valve tunes, and Avalanche uses a different needle for the bleed (LSC clicker) as well. Fluid Focus and Shockcraft both use a different main piston, while Avalanche uses the stock main piston...

5/21/2026 2:46am You have to remember the true target market of this bike....if you really need that much extra resistance then a Tallboy is the wrong bike for you, full stop. The forum guys wanting to run a coil shock are a niche of a niche type of mountain biker so they aren't going to design the bike with that in mind. I also don't think its that far off, and they maybe chose to ship it with that shock spec so people can easily remove the spacers if that need to. And plenty of people have run coil shocks in bikes...
