As long as the spline interface is the same, the body width is irrelevant. It looks like they are coming up with short freehub bodies, but unlike XD jobbers the full-length splines of Micro Spline means a narrower 8sp cassette would just need spacers to fit on a 12sp MS freehub as long as the interface is the same. Shimano developing a new cassette standard just for DH would be very unlike Shimano. That doesn't fit their M.O.

Try riding a shimano derailleur with the clutch switched off and you'll feel the difference in performance shifting wise straight away.

Re: new saint. 12spd long cage saint would be super rad, especially if xt&xtr mechanical moves to dual spring instead of a clutch. But I need to get assurance if I’m retarded or not; it’s been mentioned now that this theoretical 12spd saint would retain a clutch for those who are “not concerned about efficiency.” What in the hell does a clutch have to do with drivetrain efficiency? Besides slightly affecting suspension feel, more so if your bike has a lot of chain growth, how would a clutch vs dual spring have any effect on the what the bike feels...

I'll take the chance that this is somewhat on-topic and race-related. I'm probably missing someone who should be on this short list, but here are four riders who I think might have the highest combined winning percentages in UCI World Cup and World Championships. I didn't include wins in Juniors (Vali's percentage would be almost double, if I did.*) Rachel Atherton: 42.1% (46 wins) Vali Höll: 34.8% (16) Aaron Gwin: 17.9% (21) Greg Minnaar: 13.1% (26) Nicolas Vouilloz, 37.9% (22 including 7 World Champs) [Thank you, @RadAxSmirch for bringing this one to my attention after my original post!] Anne Caroline...

Yes, MSA was Jackson on DHX2 coil, LP was LMS on DHX2 coil, then before that, AP4 won Lenzerheide on a Vivid Air.

Spomer was LitterMag aka Gordo aka...the Hoff-maker. . He started as a hyper stoked grom photog who took blue sky pics of West Coast legends. He'd cross post on RideMonkey, MTBR & other forums to pull people in. Back when we were all hyper stoked on the sport blowing up & Spomer was by far the most positive & hyped of us all. And the king of "The Hoff Word Bubble".e need to bring that back to the galleries along with LitterOTB @sspomer

Squamish enduro from yesterday. Local race but a few EDR racers use it as a preseason benchmark with a couple of National champs and the women’s world champ lining up. Props to the filmers as this got posted 2 hours after the podium. Jonathan Helly and Elly Hoskins took the top steps.

Had a real dumb one today. Had some noise somewhere on the front of the bike. Kept stopping trying to find it but couldn’t feel anything wrong and couldn’t get the sound to go off the bike. Turns out the cap for the air valve on the fork was a half turn loose. Boy did I feel stupid once I figured it out. And of course proceeded to destroy my derailleur next run so I actually had a problem then.

Thank you all for the interest in our bikes and in our distribution / sales model. To give you a bit of context, we’re currently a team of 9 people at RAAW, based in Germany, and we ship worldwide directly from here. The US has actually grown into our biggest market after Germany, which is pretty wild considering that every RAAW in the US has been shipped individually from Germany. Our goal is, of course, to make the ordering process and ownership experience as easy as possible. Having stock in the US would be ideal, but that comes with a...

It’s kinda crazy that they still don’t understand how splits work. ie - The (#) is the split ranking. Green vs red is just against the leaders sum. They will say something like “he’s the fastest thru the 1st section” just because it’s green. When it reality they are maybe 10th and the leader was 11th.

Well, the points mismatch between what Vital was expecting (250 vs 200 for P1 Elite Mens) didn't help things, so the junior classes (points unchanged) had an oversized impact on the results. Only seven of the top 20 highest points per dollar in finals were in the elite categories which I expect will change in the next round with the shakeup in rider costs. With that said, the points earned in finals are the same as last year, I checked the rule book on Friday and the scoring was black meaning it wasn't changed for the 26 rulebook. Regardless of...

Wouldnt that weigh an obscene amount and make the wheel weird on any speeds? My moneys on lightweight stem protection I mean, it just looks like it's a cushcore or similar foamy stuff just wedged between the spokes to protect the valve stem:
