3/17/2024 5:29pm I doubt it’s galvanic corrosion, I would bet money on it that the aluminum oxidized and wasn’t treated before they applied the adhesive to the substrate. There could be saponification happening, but usually that only happens with some amine compounds when interacting with a substrate containing zinc, so I highly doubt that’s the case. A common misconception is that aluminum doesn’t oxidized, but it actually oxidizes (depending on the alloy) within minutes when exposed to oxygen. Anyone familiar with bonding aluminum should be well aware of this. We glue exotic road cars and race cars together all day with no...

3/17/2024 4:18pm same for road and track cycling Road frames have to be UCI approved and confirm to the ISO4210 testing standard. There is no minimum production number or maximum price but they do have to be available to buy (at some point).

3/17/2024 4:16pm What is the source for the claim that Pivot did not put this prototype through lab testing? Pivot certainly has the resources and the experience to lab-test any new frame and I would, frankly, be surprised if they had actually skipped that step. If true--big 'if'--it would be downright irresponsible. One thing I have heard over and over in interviews with downhill racers is that is difficult to truly replicate 'race pace' riding or bike responses in testing. I'm not fast enough to know if that's accurate or not, but if so, then testing prototypes in actual races makes some...

3/16/2024 3:48pm I'm not sure an Mtb forum is really the best venue to argue about rape conviction rates to be honest.

3/16/2024 8:13am That's not really backed up by the prosecution/conviction statistics at all. e.g.: "According to figures from the French Ministry of Gender Equality, every year in France, 94,000 women report being victims of rape or attempted rape. But in 2021, barely 1 percent of the reported assaults resulted in a conviction." In the UK it's still extremely hard to get a conviction for rape. I know someone who was drugged then raped, and despite a lot of evidence there was no conviction. I can imagine in somewhere like France it would be even harder just with what the prevailing attitude towards...

3/15/2024 10:38pm I used to love doing solo epic rides. I used to have an 80ish mile loop that I would do in the San Gabriels in SoCal. I'd ride from my house to the bottom of the Mt. Wilson Toll Road. Climb the 13 dirt miles to the observatory. A mile or so down to Red Box Station. Down the Gabrielano trail with a Brown Mtn. loop. And back home to soak my feet in the kitchen sink. (I mostly did this during winter break and there are 21 river crossings.)

3/15/2024 9:33pm I'll take your money, I know the lock I use like the back of my hand. But in reality, counterpoint, would you want to ride a setup that has a 10kmh minimum? Also, the crowns look like this to me:

3/14/2024 2:57pm I get my enjoyment from everything that you can do on a bike or bike related. Pushing hard on climbs, doing park laps ,big alpine rides(the trails often sucks, but the views make it),short rides after work, pumptrack, nerding out and underrated for most bikers trailcare. For me everythings about mtb is fun, except when you take off a tire and the tubeless tape move.

3/14/2024 2:55pm Not odd at all with the recent changes over on PB. Completely different place over the last 12 months. Regarding the larger story, either more came out to Canyon or it finally reached the people that should have known prior to the signing. Either way it is a very poor look for Canyon to not have investigated privately prior to signing him. That being said, corporate responsibility in these issues still leave a lot to be desired. Take a look at how Redbull is handling the Chris Horner issue where they cleared him and then put the accuser on unpaid...

3/14/2024 2:55pm I think Flosports is just the license holder in Canada and has nothing to do with the broadcast and production of the races etc... so we are either getting the Eurosports feed or the world feed for that event. That said for the price of $150USD, plus Visa transaction fees and the exchange rate it's over $200/ annually. Putting it in the ultra-premium among streaming services the quality needs to be way better. Their inhouse podcasts and news stories aren't very good and I did not see value in the Flosports Extras like Team Cheerleading, Fishing or Rodeo and what...

3/14/2024 1:56pm This poll needed to allow multiple selections... I used to race [in the '90s - LOL], but was never very good at it, what with the not training and the hangovers. I enjoyed the camaraderie with the team and organizing the "training rides" and road trips. Post-racing, it was all about riding with friends, and ogling shiny new parts, and going for burgers after a big ride, and talking about the next ride, etc. Later, it was all about trail building, volunteering my time to write grant applications, plan new trails, work with [read: beg] for access from land managers...

3/13/2024 9:34pm *Blatantly stealing this from VitalMX* So where do you get your enjoyment from in biking? Are you a racer that wants to go as fast as you can, a park rat that couldn't give a shit about the newest of the new, maby you love to tinker or get out and dig. So what makes mountain biking fun FOR YOU

3/13/2024 6:41pm Anyone saying 12spd is overkill is welcome to try out Slovenian terrain. Or any glacial or steep river valley mountain range terrain for that matter. How is 15mm heavier than 20mm?? If anything bearing lifetime in 15mm hubs is longer than with 20mm hubs.

3/12/2024 7:23pm I really don't think a 6.3mm decrease in seal circumference is going to be a game changer for you, or even noticeable, but you're right that the 36 is lighter. I think there are riders for whom the increased flex of a smaller fork can be good. Probably riders under 150 pounds/68 kg. I'm not one of them, and I'm so glad the bigger forks are available. It was an immediately noticeable effect for me and an instant upgrade as a big tall guy with heavy tires and big brake rotors. If you're a lighter rider and bike weight is...

3/11/2024 8:09pm I've ridden them a bit and work on them weekly. The rocky motor setup is by far my favorite layout. Everything is replaceable and most things are repairable. Bad motor board? It's replaceable. Bad drive chain? Replaceable. Crank spindle bearing failure? It's just a normal BB and DH spindle crank. Even the sprague clutch and chain ring can be swapped out in 5 minutes. The only thing I can't officially pop open is the actual motor but the bike can be ridden out if it fails. Rocky even provides shops with a full kit of spares with part numbers to...

3/11/2024 8:03pm Whelp, I just got a legal notice that my key vendor is insolvent and in collections. I lucked out as I was getting close to placing an order with a hefty deposit. I run a very small biz in the MTB technical apparel space, 1000 unit orders are the norm. Time to either lawyer up or find a new factory. I suspect I'm not the only one who will be dealing with a messy supply chain this year.
