Is... Is this an insult? That's the most mundane accusation I can think of. "I bet you enjoy mustard on your hot dogs. And drink water when you're thirsty."

lmao they really did start their raw practice video with a terrible crash. Lawlor and Spomer need to start asking for royalties, dang. so many tense wheelie off to nose dive style rolls and then the Specalized team just comes in track pace, forcing the bike into the down slope, and powering out the corner. Smile yesplz again if their goal is to get full face owners to watch, its working lol (wonder if it is possible to double that end of the log section. wouldnt be worth anytime but would make for a sick IG clip for blev heheh

Personally i see the point of man made features on an xc course. Looks good on tv. Separates the riders. It was interesting watching the dh guys at the latest dhse send the man made rock garden that was on the xc World Cup course. at the end of the day World Cup xc racing is exactly what happens when you need to film the event. The courses are designed to imitate xc riding in a race able format. And often the venues have to make do with what they got. Looks like the organizers squeezed every bit of elevation...

I would rather see forbidden spending their cash getting Conner to the races instead of brook. I mean I like brook but he’s not setting the world on fire on the supernaught. While we at it get alex store & Emmy lann to more DH world cups

I love it! The strange preview vid is perfect too. The sanctity of XC isn’t important to me at all so fuck it up all you want! That wood-to-wood river gap looks like the Athertons designed it, and the flat drops to Dwell flooring are madness. Got that thigh-high vert right hand berm? XCMTB Kasso let’s do it! if anything, it makes me feel better about WB Disco—they’re trying to end XC too. It’s The Producers!

In the US I've never seen that. It could be happening depending on the individual shop being willing to take on the additional costs, but it is definitely not the norm in my area.

As far as I'm aware the hard chrome coating of the X01 (and XX1) chains is the driving factor for the longevity compared to GX. The problem is as far as I know X0 Transmission chain is not hard chromed. My X01 cassette did 350k vertical ascending over 4 or 5 chains. The last one lasted 2 seasons (the drivetrain was 'fucked', so I didn't care), only to come out stretched to ~0,5% after two years. I did start waxing the chain before the last one and continued on the last one, so that could have helped as well. The...

I've seen zero evidence of aluminum frames being recycled. I ran bike shops for 10 years and never saw a recycling program. I still have never seen a hint of a recycling program, not at local shops and not at manufacturers. There is no link on manufacturer websites to "recycle your aluminum frame here" . Aluminum is recyclable, but with no public easily accessable way to do it, the rate of it actually happening is likely close to zero.

Aluminum is recyclable but do AL bikes ever actually get recycled? I think every bike bike ever ends up getting resold & ultimately in the hands of a random tweaker then ends it’s life either in a landfill or at the bottom of a body of water lol. Has anybody ever actually taken a bike to a scrap yard?

Fortunately the geometry formula for each "class" or "genre" of MTB has settled down to the point where holding on to a frame until it breaks is viable*. My 2018 trail bike is still pretty close to "modern" in every dimension other than the seat tube angle, which is not something I think you could say about 99% of 2012 frames at the time**. Even the parts are more or less the same as those being specified on brand new bikes. * Of course it was always viable – just ride! – but the new hotness isn't significantly different any...

Still too nuanced. The elite field is way deeper and way more trained now. Just like almost everything else, like supercross. You don't really get to be a semi-muscular party animal who rocks up to the hut and takes first these days. And a lot of times the tracks are getting short and bike parky to create tighter racing... Although that doesn't describe VDS at all. And then of course modern bikes. Not only are they clearly better BUT they are significantly better for outlier body types. I'm still DEFINITELY not gonna say those 2 runs are comparable. And I'd...

Is it just me, or does an aluminum flex stay seem sketchy? I’m sure it’s designed to last fine for the typical 3-5 year ownership of a new frame, but it’s certainly not a bike I’d buy second hand given aluminum’s poor fatigue strength. It would be cool if you could swap the carbon rear triangle from an epic to...

The UDH has material that creates a slot for the hub endcap to help with axle installation. Transmission uses a 55mm chainline and the whole cassette is spaced outbound by 3mm, so when trying to use a Transmission cassette with a standard UDH, the chain will drag on this "slot" material when in the smallest cog. I love everything about my XO transmission except that it's electronic. Would trade for a cable actuated system with the same operating characteristics and durability in a heartbeat.
