So it's just a cover on the chain from the cranks to the upper chainring not a gearbox. Probably to keep dirt out because it's so exposed and act as a chain guide. Also good e-bike development for motor and suspension.
sram cranks are interesting. so it's either the SRAM DUB mount or new Bosch style ISIS mount and that's what is available. or its a new sram dh 7 speed rear.
2 blue chainrings/sprockets and the red section of chain is concealed inside the “box”. I wonder if it doesn’t infringe on the DW patent because the 2 gears aren’t vertically oriented from each other.

I’ve heard they are alive and active. I think they know they need updates and are working on them just slowly. They are doing a lot event wise and media. Can’t wait to see what they are doing and hopefully a longer travel free ride/ downhill bike!
If they come out with a DH bike and don't call it the Undead they should be fired. Out of a cannon. Into the sun.

I wonder if there's some kickback mechanism in there a-la ochain or sidekick. Not big enough for full blown gearbox but room for more stuff than just sprockets.
Also surprised they're getting away with no upper guide on that chainring.

Major overthinking here - but that banjo crimp fitting looks very similar to the ones used on the Hayes Dominions, not sure any others use one structured exactly like that. You have a sortof indention near the banjo end followed by horizontal lines, most others lack that indention. The lever adjuster is also similar to what Hayes uses.
May not mean much in either case, a rotary reach adjuster is hardly unique and I'm sure those fittings just come from a supplier in large quantities, but maybe worth noting.
Am I showing my age, or you showing your lack of age?

Uh... no. That's precisely why they need to bring the name back. Sometimes companies have iconic and excellent names from years past that would totally apply to their new platform and instead call it something else. Or use the iconic name on an ebike.
The seat stays and chain stays look pretty refined. Like production ready type refined🤷🏻♂️
I’ve been saying that ever since Finn posted himself riding it on insta. No one agreed with me lol. It’s a full carbon molded rear triangle. Pretty production for sure
Pretty underwhelmed TQ only managed to find an extra 10nm after what looks like a redesign of the HPR50. I was hoping they’d managed to get close to full power but without the pregnant BB areas of current e-bikes. Spose it doesn’t matter cause the 580 battery looks fat anyways.

Evil name their bikes in versions, Wreckoning v3, Offering V2 etc, seems pretty obvious if they offered a new DH bike it would just be called the Undead V2 🤷♂️
But as mentioned previously they have been very quiet lately, I doubt a DH bike is high on their priority list.

I dont know. Maybe people would buy the "Evil Definitely-Dead V1" downhill bike...

The red is a small belt. Specialized is going after the Gates $100,000 just like the other teams, they are just being stealthy about it.

Tube....you know like a round tube. Same as bikes were made from before molded carbon.
You take a round tube and squish it a oval shape so it's optimized to the loads it's going to see. A tubular structure is better suited to the forces of a crank than an I-beam.
See EEwings here. Drop the hirth joint, make them from steel, and use the available axle that everyone is using. Go with 8 bolt sram mount for rings so that there will be plenty of options and no special tool needed. They don't need to survive 30ft roof drops to flat like Profile cranks so can be a reasonable weight.
Side side note: They also updated the fixing bolt to 8mm (so no more 14mm hex) BUT it's not backwards compatible. The CC CSR I talked to...

The CC CSR I talked to said he was on a personal mission to get them to update that to make it fit the older cranks, so give them them a call and let them know if you want that too!
Dispersed bikepacking makes a Ti 6mm to 14mm adaptor for the EEwings crank arm fixing bolt. Mine lives in my hip pack and has saved my ass twice now.
Oops, similar situation TQ HPR60 search and Yeti's new eeb just popped up.

It must be very hard to bring out new ebikes that are obsolete with the arrival of the DJI Avinoxm, all these ebikes are heavy, fat and with pregnant aesthetics. The traditional ebike industry will not start to recover at least until 2027 from this blow that DJI has given them, I see a lot of sales coming to get rid of the stock of these products.

I hope that's it just because it would be funny.
That's a hilarious take, and it would be PEAK Specialized if true - taking the gates prize on a technicality with a bike that has a chain and derailleur is up there with suing a cafe.
I recall the same thing being suggested when the Pivot came out with two chains, pretty sure the rules say the belt needs to be driving the rear wheel.

Right on the money! With less tired eyes this morning I saw the small bolts for the cover plate. Very cool rig indeed. Those are some very production looking stays. Gotta wonder how far they were into the production bike before coming up with this wicked concept. What's the UCI rule again for how long you have till a bike needs to be in production?

Don't be silly. The bosch motors are far from obsolete, there's a lot of integration and quality of life features that the DJI doesn't have.

They’ve been doing in house carbon mold protos for a while
breeden goes into deets about the intense M1 gearbox DH bike
They have been using the Enduro seat stays on this and the previous iteration of the bike. Old one has sandwich hanger, new one has udh

Good looking tool with a reasonable price for machined Ti with its limited market. Would have bought one if I had not made my own already.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
