7/23/2025 8:04am FWIW I solved the TITS noise of brake hoses by threading paracord through the frame, running it parallel with the brake hoses. The cord provides sufficient cushioning / damping to kill the noise. There isn't enough clearance in the frame for the foam tubing.

7/4/2025 10:17pm If you can find VHS V3 tape, that's the best option IMO. Both silence chain slap about equally, but here are some cons of the STFU compared to VHS: - The adhesive is weak - plan to supplement with zip ties if you don't want the edges to lift. It says its 3M VHB but this seems pretty sus to...

5/13/2025 10:06am I wonder if there's some kickback mechanism in there a-la ochain or sidekick. Not big enough for full blown gearbox but room for more stuff than just sprockets. Also surprised they're getting away with no upper guide on that chainring.

5/12/2025 8:21am Pads and rotors are both things easily changed by the end consumer. For the lab data, they should have used either control pads and rotors from someone like Galfer, or used the best available from each OEM. If they wanted to use whatever OEM pads were fitted for subjective on-trail testing that would be fine but you don’t get meaningful lab data with a random spread of pads. Another note that makes me question their testing too: their setup photos for the Maven on the lab test make it look like they may not be applying force to the correct...

5/11/2025 9:42pm On the front I've got an Assegai EXO+ Maxxgrip because that's what was already on there when I put the Forekaster on. I've been meaning to put something faster on the front but in the meantime I haven't noticed or been bothered by the traction difference at all. The Forekaster breaks away a bit sooner than the DHRII it replaces...

5/4/2025 9:47pm A 27.5 Forekaster EXO+ exists, part # TB00473500. Have one on the back of a 5010, seems like a perfect short travel bike tire, and would totally try it on a bigger bike if there was a DD. Great rolling speed, with ample, predictable traction in dry/firm conditions. I really like this tire, please buy them so Maxxis keeps making...

1/22/2025 1:41pm I haven't ridden TRPs, but if you're already comfortable with them and have no real complaints, that seems like the obvious, safest choice. Nevertheless I'd like to throw my support behind the Mavens. Once I got used to the power of the one set I've had, I found myself feeling slower on my other bikes without them - having to...

11/25/2024 4:07pm Have you considered reaching out to Matt at Cass Labs? Last I saw him he was running an ochain and said he was hoping to do a follow-up to that video you posted. Pretty approachable guy. In my mind I'm not sure if your 'you can only choose one' directive could work, I don't see how you could isolate the...

11/16/2024 11:36am Dead Silent, no rattle. Interestingly, ours is sprung much firmer that the counter cycles version in all three frequency set ups we've targeted. It's really cool to see others doing their own data acquisition and analysis of the Countercycle one, I hope ours is put under similar security. The specific frequencies we targeted were derived from a great deal of data collection, Fast Fourier Transfer analysis and GPS comparison. Looking at which frequencies were actually felt as negative at a given instance and which were actually part of the ride characteristics of the chassis. It's clear all the options being...

TheSuspensionLabNZ Liked a reply to forum topic New fork seals - grease or no grease?
10/22/2024 2:18pm A little bit of grease for sure. A properly designed seal system and stanchion surface finish allows for a microscopic film of oil on the stanchion which is the main thing that lubricates the seal, and comes from your bath oil. This is why foam rings retain oil close to the wiper, but if the oil drains to the bottom grease is much better at clinging to the wiper and maintaining some kind of lubrication at all times. This is also why adding lubrication to the outside of your fork is pointless - the oil inside the fork should be...

Dreyzar Started a new thread New fork seals - grease or no grease?
10/22/2024 11:13am Historically I've always applied a thin coat of slick honey to fork seals when replacing them or doing a lowers service, but I wanted to look into the merits of doing this and can't find anything conclusive from the manufacturers. Fox and Rockshox service manuals don't mention anything about greasing or oiling dust seals/wipers prior to installing the uppers -...
