Why shouldn't you?
Apparently 690 POE was too few
you can definitely feel the slack 🤣
Sooo, 870-880 Poe… why?
And please someone explain it to me: the Hydra was the high end offering, the 1/1 was/is the low/middle end offering. Guess Hydra 2 will again be the top dog with even more Poe. But what is the Solix? Who’s it for? Another more middle middle offering?
solix is the lighter system for road/gravel/XC
Damn, finally a hub for people that thought that 690 poe was not enough to help them climb up hills
I want to love I9 stuff because it's beautiful, and I'm still on team high engagement...but I broke two Hydras and in 30 years of cycling the only stem Ive ever had an issue with was an I9, and it broke on both the body and faceplate. Great warranty, but I needed it four times for three purchases.
from our i9 article which is on homepage
Hydra 3 will include a dyno powered speaker that only plays Eddie Murphy's classic "Party All the Time"
I wonder if axle flex is still part of the design like their first Hydra hub. That's when under power the axle would flex and allow more pawls to be engaged. It eventually led to the failures and significantly shorter bearing life. With pedal kickback being a hot topic these days, this hub is a pretty tone deaf product. Their words "no one asked for more engagement but we gave it anyways"
Smart guy, but this is going nowhere.
He should consider directing his talents towards a small central mounted miniature drivetrain in a box. Of course it would not be compatible with e-bikes, so that's a problem too.
MSRP $215. Feeling pretty good about my prediction that a mechanical Transmission shifter + derailleur + cassette will cost more than slapping a Deore wireless shifter + derailleur on your existing Eagle/Shimano 12sp setup.
For the XC demons out there - Roval released a sub 1000gram (claimed 998grams) control world cup wheelset today it looks like
Must be some of the lightest XC wheels from a big name manufacturer. And with some form of warranty/crash replacement, at least for US customers. Here in europe we dont get the "crash replacement" part of Roval unfortunately. Not sure how good or bad it is for you guys.
Priced just around $3000 for you guys, where I live the price converts into about €3500, so quite steep.

Integrated 10 tooth cog-lockring. I hope they offer a 1 meter breaker bar cassette tool with that. Going to be a lot of these on e-bikes with squid riders camping out in boost in the10t. Fun removal, unless there's some clever detail I'm missing. That said, I'm stoked to see mechanical t-type is almost here!
This is just the cassette that's used with the OEM only S1000 Transmission. That whole groupset kind of flew under the radar when it launched, but nothing new here.
I think the 10t is just moved outside the freehub and the locking is inside it. It's probably still indexed to the hub in some way.
Good gravy that's obnoxious. Great ad for Onyx hubs
I WORK for DT Swiss so this is a shameless plug. No astroturfing here...
We launched new dirt jump wheels today. First time we have used brass nipples in a system wheel. We are also offering the hubs separately.
D 1900 CLASSIC - Dirt Jump wheels | DT Swiss
Just saw those on a Madison (UK distributor).
They look sick.
Finally someone is building a DJ wheelset that isn’t DMR 😚
Yeah, if its Transmission standard the 10t is further outboard than traditional HG so they’ll have been able to capitalise on that. Got to give them credit for that workaround
Yup, agreed.
The Fazua motor when it's working is fantastic. Kinda fitting for a Porsche brand, actually.
Their stuff has been improving issues wise. If you get an issue the fix is usually permanent and Fazua seems pretty quick to fix it too.
Oh my god no. I found my Hydras to be reasonable when we'll greased, but I've been happily on Onyx for two years now.
Still riding my old DT F550s that I stole off a 2012 Demo before selling it.. They've moved through 3 different DJ frames and 4 forks now, still on the original hubs and spokes too.
These might be the first wheels to get me to jump(haha) ship though.
The first 5 cogs (10,12,14,16,18t) are one solid removable cluster, so two separate clusters both with HG spline and the lockring is built into the small cluster but spins freely
It's such a shame that PON ceased GT, I feel they were heading back in the right direction with race results technology, the new fury seems like the most active bike when you look back as all the slowmo stuff from last years world cups. I heard that the new bikes they had coming in 2025/2026 were amazing from a few different people, I feel all they needed to do it get rid of the worst looking logo to ever grace a modern bike, maybe started factory backed teams in each discipline , and maybe throw some money at bike launches as the Fury when it was released was done very quietly.
That new cable Transmission derailleur in combo with the X01 cassette (355 grams) & chain should be a pretty dope set up.
Idk how much time anyone is really spending in the 10T gear with 34T and even 36T chainrings coming on modern eebs. Even in boost you'd hit 20mph pretty quick no?
Whenever I get another eeb I'm going to run a 30T with an 11-36T Zee drivetrain.
Not sure how well the transmission derailleurs plays with the last gen eagle casettes.
But a X0 or XX casette is right at 380 grams, an XX SL is 346 grams, so about 200 grams lighter than the SX casette linked earlier, but the SL one is VERY expensive, even at discount.
Im actually considering going fully battery free on my Enduro and "downgrading" to one of these derailleurs when they come out
