torw Added a reply to Bar ends ... so hot right now

I've got mine set up with ODI Longneck push ons, and it's been great so far. I trimmed the mushroomed end of the grip to give my palm a little more room on the flat section of the grip, as the side of my hands were cramping up where they met the bar end. That cramp has gone away and...

[Edit: Whoops. I was writing this and posted it just after someone else posted the info.] When Asa was on course, Martin Maes was in the Hot Seat. Below are Martin's times at each split, followed by how much Asa was "into the Green" at each split. [Asa's 4th split differential is open to question, because he had already run out of bounds just before reaching the 4th split timer. [The big Whoop sign he almost got choked by marks the spot where the 4th split timer is.] Martin ended up 9th, 2.050 seconds behind Luca Shaw. No one can...

Is there anywhere to see Asa's splits? He was up by a couple seconds when he crashed, but of course that was compared against whoever was the current leader when he dropped. Because he was disqualified, his splits aren't listed on the results sheet.

Just buy a DH bike with steep seat tube angle and run a dropper post and full drivetrain. Then you have the best of both worlds! Frameworks for the win. And for those complaining it ruins drivetrains, this XX group (minus chain replacements) has been running strong since Jan. 2023.

The mental gymnastics I used to convince myself a downhill bike was a reasonable purchase was that I would be keeping the hard miles in the bike park off my trail bike. That means fewer creaks and wobbly rims to deal with on the 99% of the rides where I'm just pedaling locally. The DH bike is just better built...

Thanks a ton for all the questions today everyone. That was fun. With that, I'm signing off and jumping in the race van tomorrow morning to head to Mtn. Creek Bike Park for round 2 of the Pro Downhill Series. If you're in the area or around for the race feel free to stop by and say hi! Thank everyone!

I think one of the largest "We're not in Kansas anymore" moments I had when I began working for a component manufacturer after years in bikes shops was when I had the insignificance of aftermarket sales explained to me. Don't get me wrong, every brand worth their salt is going to support aftermarket product bc why leave money on the table, but OE sales are king in the bike industry and ultimately OE sales drives every design decision. SRAM gets to push the convenience of full SRAM spec by limiting cross compatibility. For brands like Canyon, Specialized, etc., who are...

What the heck.... UCI is showing Men's Elite Q1 already as if it's underway, but they've apparently stuck the timed training times on the Q1 Results screen. Well, as their sponsor would say: "Whoop!"

Devinci just dropped their Canadian-made alloy Spartan. https://www.devinci.com/en/stories/product-launch/2026-spartan/ Top spec is priced at a very reasonable $5,999, it also comes with the newly updated 2027 Fox 38

Just a Concussion Hayden Wright and Jaimi Parr Far too often, the phrase “ just a concussion ” is used to downplay the severity of head injuries sustained in crashes. A knock to the head is frequently considered minor—especially when compared to broken bones or torn ligaments. But the reality is far more complex. In early 2025 long-time contributor Hayden Wright experienced a crash, resulting in a concussion that brought with it symptoms which persisted for months. Though invisible to others, the effects were deeply debilitating, with impacts noticed through every part of day-to-day life. In search of answers and...

I'm here to defend (good) trail associations. I was the first Executive Director of Evergreen MTB Alliance in WA State in the early 00's and then on the exec committee of the board for another 10 years. We (both paid crews and volunteers) built tons of tech trails, and yeah a lot of flow trails and jump lines for the masses. I think a good balance between the styles. Behind the scenes we fought HARD to keep open the unsanctioned areas - areas I rode and may or may not have spent countless hours digging at Smile That fight wasn't...

These are good posts and discussions for the bikeconomics thread. This thread, is about new technology rumors and new tech. Remember, no one forces you to buy a new bike. The gear in this sport would be less interesting and not worth talking about if the prevailing notion was, "meh, we didn't develop this any further because it didn't fix the market and new riders don't care." Bikes used to be shite, but the sport was still fun. Now the sport is fun, and bikes aren't shite.
