Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
Very personal, but for me Maxxis, including specifically the Assegai, tend to puncture much faster than Schwalbe of equivalent weight. Most Maxxis DD's I have tried were dead in under a month on the rear (multiple snakebites or big tear), whereas a Schwalbe supertrail will probably last at least 3 months, and a supergravity will never die (talking sidewalls here, knobs will be long gone)
Cool shots from PitBits video of AP’s V5 rear end. (3rd photo from IG). It’s interesting to me to see how soft potentially he’s trying to make his bike but then Greg wrapping his norco rear end in carbon.
Wayy more lights and buttons on the Ohlins stuff than I imagined.
I just love how they've got the most one-off frame, a bunch of secret suspension stuff going on, and a clump of black electrical tape holding it all together
I'm sure it's there just to hide what's beneath, but it sure does look hodgepodge
Maybe he needs extra compliance to offset the extra rigidity from the Air Shock? Running a Float X2 instead of a DHX2 is what I can't wrap my head around.
Schwalbe (and Contis too) are typically half the price of Maxxis, so there's that.
But the naming thing evades me - so it'll be "Albert Gravity in Super Gravity compound" etc
Which is probably on the same level of fail as with Conti's "Trail/Endurance" vs "Enduro/Soft" casings/compounds, totally not confusing
Flight Attendant looks clean as compared to this.
I would love to see the difference in bar hight from Finn´s vs. Dak´s bike. Seems that they were completely the opposite. Finn´s bars are totally slammed and Dak´s bar is higher than Bob M. ever was.
it's a Schwalbe, i like the chasing better, the ultrasoft rubber better ( plus it easily outlasts maxxgrip ) and they're cheaper
Chris Canfield posted this on his story earlier today. The Vampire DH bike can be turned into a Single Crown, maybe? Similar to the One.2?

I think it's one frame that can do both. It's gotta be relatively long travel, as a test rider has said they are running a 38 as the more "trail" oriented setup. I'm going to guess it's 170mm rear travel or more.
Plz point me in the direction of Schwalbes for half the price of Maxxis thanks in advance
I tried out the Vee attack after reading the Vital review.
Legit tire, only downside is that it seems to run a little thinner. Got it considerably cheaper than a Maxxis.
I can pretty much guarantee that if you’re a mushy brain like me (easily get concussions) any helmet designed for motor sports will be too hard to effectively prevent concussions. The higher impact speeds the helmet is designed to prevent from smashing your skull open, the more likely it is to cause a concussion in a minor incident.
Bikeinn.com for a lot of stuff that is usually 2x in US.
Bike discount usually has pretty great deals for schwalbes at the end of the year...
Maybe it’s a result of increased track speed on the World Cup circuit and the pros feeling like they need something different? It’s definitely interesting to see them all on it.
Check out 6D for yourself if you’ve had previous concussion issues and safety is your top priority for a helmet.
He said somewhere that’s it’s not a full blown DH frame. It’s a “super enduro” frame that can be built with single or dual crown forks. It has bottle mounts and routing for a dropper.
What if the buttons don't do anything but the engineers tell Loic and Finn they do?
"Okay big guy, you can choose between boost-blaster setting, super boost-blaster setting, or ultra boost-blaster setting. Now go fast!"
if this has been discussed, sorry. i can delete. has anyone talked about greg's norco w/ the aluminum rear end stiffened with a carbon wrap since fort william? as seen in our pit bits video. "it may be too stiff, but we're going to try."
do they just scuff up the stays and vacuum bag the carbon/resin around it? pretty bonkers
Where is Dave Camp at when you need him? Genuinely curious of this from the engineering standpoint, this is way above my paygrade. Interested and curious about this too Spomer
@Simcik @Dave_Camp - DC Special 2024 LOL
I used to look after the rental bikes at a bike park. People used to blow the forks and shocks up all the time so I de-coupled the compression adjusters. They'd come back complaining about the bike and I'd turn the knobs a few clicks for them. They's come back next run raving about how much better it was now.
@carlinojoevideo mentioned it in the post where he shared Amaury's Supreme, that's it.
Probably literally just bonded on, should work fine for a weekend or two.
It's an interesting topic; Amaury looking for more compliance/grip(?) and Minaar looking for additional stiffness? (Do we know GM is looking for stiffness or could the carbon wrap be for damping?)
Edit: Although didn't SC also add carbon wrapping to Greg's V10 a while back, so increasing stiffness seems likely..
SC did that as well yes. Is the Norco prototype still machined? That means it's an open section, not a tube, which means it's a lot less stiff in bending at the same section weight than a tube is. Therefore it might make sense for them to try out the carbon wrap.

If I got two or more concussions within a year from anything, I wouldn't mountain bike anymore. They are far more dangerous than most realize
I know it was, the question is if it's still. By the looks of it it probably is.
