Let’s not forget that the inventor of the Supre drivetrain, the one that ONLY works on high pivots, is working for a unnamed “well established” manufacturer to incorporate his drivetrain into their bikes. Sounds plausible that this company could most likely be Norco

Well as already stated it's not Norco.

On his Instagram he mentions that he’s still working with a different company. Nicolai approached him AFTER the drivetrain reveal.

Turns out, it's actually not Norco, but Nicolai/Geometron.

Nicolai is not Geometron. They get their own spec frames from Nicolai, where Nicolai can sell their own.

per the above instagram post, nicolai approached LAL after they announced the drivetrain. there is still another company LAL is working with, but Nicolai managed to develop their bike faster and will have it on market first.

The Eddie Van Halen' Frankenstein edition-A pieced together brakeset modified from the factory. That's my take on it.

Is it just me or is that rear caliper location on the Nicolai straight up stupid?

Yeah. Making it impossible to adjust the caliper and prevent rotor rub.

howso? the adjustment is at the brake caliper itself, not on the post mounts on the frame.

but it's impossible to sight through the pad gap to get it lined up in the first place. Though, with modern wide hub spacing and just the right angle...

in the latest dialed video from fox eddie masters is testing some new secret enduro/trail bike stuff. should be a new live valve system since fox also flew out their mechatronics engineer/designer for the testing.

THe frame is in the way to be able to look through the caliper. You can do it from behind maybe, but then it's a pain to tighten the caliper back up. And dealing with the screws, the way they are positioned now, is going to be a pain anyway. Even the horst-link/linkage driven single pivot bikes with the calipers 'inside' the triangle (older Commencal Metas, Kavenz VHP, etc.) are a pain to deal with in that regard.

RE Fox stuff, I tried to see if anything was shown in the videos, no wires, no actuator and no sensors visible on Eddie's bike. Same goes for the 'final' shot with Jordi and Evan, so looks like only Eddie is running the new stuff (and Jesse obvs).

Maybe Jesse can chime in? :D

Looks like this is a smaller, slimmed down version of the previous USD fork they had put on the Nicolai e-moto. I believe Franco had mentioned them working on an mtb usd fork on the “bikes and big ideas” podcast too. Very interested to see all the details on it! .

atherton mullet DH bike

https://youtu.be/661podrG2ic

Atherton Bikes launch AM.200.M the Mullet DH bike that’s setting International podiums on fire!

This weekend’s Lenzerheide World Cup saw career bests from our Men’s Elite riders with 4th place for Andreas Kolb and 7th for Charlie Hatton.

It’s the latest in an awesome run of success that has seen 2 World Cup podiums, a Crankworx Dual Slalom win and European Championship for Andi and the Crankworx Downhill victory and 2 World cup top tens for Charlie.

Rachel ranked 6th in her first race in three years, also her first race as a mother, and says that the AM.200.M was a big part of her decision to return to the track!

The AM.200.M or Mullet is hand-crafted in Machynlleth, Mid Wales using Additive Manufacturing. It’s a direct descendant of the 29er DH bike that carried Rachel and the team to 3 World Cup victories in its first season of racing back in 2019, but it was designed from the ground up so there’s no compromise on the kinematic. In common with all Atherton bikes to date the AM.200.M is built around Dave Weagle’s DW6 suspension platform which works with Atherton’s titanium- lugged construction for unrivalled adjustability.

The mullet first saw international competition in 2019 when Gee rode Red Bull Hardline and has been thoroughly tested on the World Cup circuit and at Dyfi Bike Park ever since.

Because Atherton Bikes use Additive Manufacturing which is a digital based system rather than being committed to carbon moulds the Atherton Bikes design team have been able to work with riders’ feedback to continuously improve their race bikes throughout this time, resulting in a super-competitive ride for the entire team. It also means that any learnings from the race track can be incorporated into production models within weeks.

Rachel said “Having this bike to ride that I helped design with Gee and Athy and that feels so good to ride is a big part of what gave me the confidence to come back and race. We’ve done so much work on compliance so all of our bikes grip the track so well, I love the way it hooks round corners but it’s so stable and opens up more line choices than ever.

But it’s not just for the race track, the AM.200.M is also a lot of fun at the Bike Park.

Dan Atherton said “We have been optimising bikes to win races our entire career and we definitely applied that mentality to our own DH bike. It’s just a really good all round bike, the race team need a bike that is totally consistent, no unpredictability and this bike has that 100%, it’s the same for bike park riders tackling the diversity of a well-built track, there are no conditions where it doesn’t perform. The combination of the DW6 platform and the smaller back wheel make it a super-playful ride with unreal cornering but at the same time what would normally be lost in the bikes’ ability to roll over bumps is more than compensated for by the outstanding small bump sensitivity of DW6.
