1/15/2024 2:45pm I also think you should keep it a huck machine! If it were me, I'd put a 150mm fork on it and do a mullet set up 27.5F/26R. This sounds like a fun project. I can't wait to see when you post pics of the final build! Good luck!

1/15/2024 2:41pm If you like the 220 rotors you have, I would not recommend going down in rotor size at all. If you'd like to mess with 2.3mm rotors, get them in a 220 size. It sounds like you're picky about brake feel (which is great by the way, no shade) and I think you're going to immediately notice the lack of power if you go down in rotor size. I certainly did.

1/15/2024 2:39pm I know this answer will be downvoted especially on this forum, but... I personally got rid of my upgraditis back in 2018, when I bought my first e-bike. Previously, I had changed my bike every other year, always buying one of the cheaper models and swapping over almost every component to mid/high end stuff. Every bike swap brought some clear benefits from 12mm axles, 29 wheels, geometry etc. Once I got my e-bike, with heavy cheap wheels, a heavy cheap drivetrain and its 23kg, which I got closer to 24kg once I put the heaviest DH tyres I could find...

1/15/2024 2:37pm Avoiding falling into the n+1, or new bike lust, trap is easy for me since I can’t afford it. However, if money and space are not an issue for you, there has never been a better time to buy a new bike (and probably never will be a time this good in the future). If I could afford it, I’d be getting something new now (still running a Nomad 3 that will be 10 years old this December).

1/15/2024 2:30pm Lol. If anything strength is very underrated in DH. Half the times people crash is because they crumple and lose body position when going fast. Getting stronger improves everything. You don't have to be powerlifting strong, but stronger is better

1/15/2024 2:29pm Yeah pretty much. You have a baseline setting and its tweaked for each track, and since they race the tracks each year pretty much they know a very solid starting setup (obviously conditions change that). My point was more about how, from an engineering stand point Fox products use a lot more spring force for support than their competitors (Ohlins generally are the most damped products from stock, with Rockshox in the middle) But once you get used to a setup, you just run that. You do major swaps between season (notice how most riders stick to the same frame...

1/8/2024 10:31am Bikes are not just their suspension layout. They are a sum of all their parts. I believe that the new optic and sight are going to be really good bikes.

1/5/2024 1:44pm In my experience, suspension is wildly complicated. Often times the correct response to a problem is the opposite of your first instinct. Sometimes if your suspension feels harsh, the correct response is adding compression. Other times, if a shock feels harsh, it means your fork is too soft. Other times it's your shock's rebound or spring rate. And sometimes it's bar height or tire pressure. A lot of variables, local maximums, and statistical noise.
