7 stops, all with XC, DH, DS, Observed Trials and eventually short track XC replaced trials. Until 1998 we also crowned our National Series Champions as our National Champions. Going to a single day national championship really killed the vibe. NORBA existed as it’s own entity until 1995 when it was merged with the pro and amateur road racing governing bodies. Until 2001 there was a person who worked at NORBA offices at USAC who’s job it was to run the national series. Destroying mountain bike racing in America was an inside job.

A US only series rivaled the World Cup in the not so distant past. At the height of the NORBA series all of the big names would show and the series was on actual broadcast TV in the US. I’m not saying a 4 round startup will recreate the success of the past just dropping a reminder that the UCI World Cup hasn’t always been the only game in town. Especially for top North American talent. Obviously the way we consume media has changed and it’s far easier to get information on the WCs now than in 90s but I...

This is not a tech rumor so I’m not going to talk about this again. What I will say is we haven’t seen a single case of frame damage due to regular use. Frames are pretty overbuilt. Your wheels are more likely to blow up first. Ask me how I know. Off the top of my head, I can only remember two instances where serious frame damage occurred. One was improper installation and one was incompatible shock. We actually paid for the crash replacement frame for the incompatible shock case because there was a typo on our website that was...

More like I finally have the option of a downhill bike so I want to see what all the hype is about. I am plenty happy with Enduro and from what I've heard internally, contrary to rumours, Enduro isn't going anywhere. But just wait till you see my latest bike, new year new me.

Eagle derailleur was feeling left out - so I made a thing - replaces the washer on a standard UDH dropout with a "Brace" that links the rear derailleur for strength and stiffness.

Who knows? Perhaps your helmet did its job and self-destructed to absorb the energy of the crash. You have a bloody lip and missing teeth instead of a broken jaw and facial reconstruction surgery. Heal up quick!

I also think a lot of tyres are too square for 30mm rims, the new conti's have such a square tread, it only slows you down on climbs, I personally favour a rounder profile, gives better grip when cornering, maximizing traction when the bike is perfectly upright isn't a priority

The trail you rode might have some short, steep sections, but it looks like nothing sustained. I could see not needing many gears as you could just power through those sections. If it bugs you too much maybe look at a 7-speed SRAM DH setup?

I never look at how my toy purchases will resale, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, Jeeps, trucks... I look at is as will the purchase price be worth it over the expected life span of said toy. Any money made at the end of life is a bonus! If I didn't think it was worth it I wouldn't have bought it. I hadn't bought an ebike yet because they were stupid expensive, but with the sales happening now I picked up a badass bike for $3999, so it became worth it.

I just ordered a Polygon Colosus N8E for $4100 out the door, it seems spec'ed pretty good for that price. I work on my own bikes and have an electronics background, so not worried about working on it. I like Shimano, so we'll see how it goes.

So I have two frames, one is a chinese open mold, and boy have those come a long way in the last few years. Geometry is close enough, and they seem well built. However, its still chinese open mold, so internal headset routing (I can't express how much I hate this now that I own one), no UDH, terrible internal cable routing, bolts keep coming loose even with locktite, not enough rear shock clearance, etc. However, when its working it rides excellent. Here is a good place to start on building your own: https://www.emtbforums.com/threads/m820-bafang-cef50-frame-lightweight… My other frame is a ebike-version...
