Hey look what I found in the parts bin: This was one of the last things I worked on at RS before I left... goal was to control big hits by weakening or slowing down the return of the air spring. I run my setup with a lot of spring and no damping, so getting bucked on big hits is part of the deal. This thing 'gulps' all the air in the positive chamber on compression and lets it out with a tiny delay (since it all has to go through the tiny hole to get out). No delay on...

Cleaned with a rag and wax lives. Worked like a charm. Thanks. Also used it on my squeaky sprindex and spring collars. Will just start dunking my whole bike in it at this rate. Also, I had a lower eyelet centre sleeve from a rockshocks in my ext. It rattled. Changed it for a fox one and everything tightened up.

Shimano released a new SPD cleat today. Compared to the 30-year-old SH51 cleats, the new CL-MT0001 cleats feature an additional ramp at the back of the cleat, which Shimano claims improves walkability and functionality—enabling back-to-front and top-down clipping in addition to the traditional front-to-back motion. The new CL-MT0001 cleats are backward compatible with all SPD pedals. If I were asked at the start of the year to guess which longstanding Shimano product would finally see an update in 2025, SPD cleats would not make my first twenty guesses.
