Anyone think its crazy that a gearbox bike might win the EDR overall? After 2 pages of gearbox efficiency talk he ends up at the top.

Having run Transmission (GX, X0, & XX flavors) on ebikes and trail bikes since launch, and run both Eagle AXS and XTR before that, yes, it does what it says. I have never once had the Transmission mangle a shift, even with full power ebikes under full load. Yeah, sometimes it will be noisy but it doesn't just munch gears sometimes like Eagle did. And the durability of the cassettes & chains are an order of magnitude better than XTR at least. The XX cassette on my current ebike has over 2,000 miles and minimal wear, likewise its chain. I've...

It's a shame there is no way to adjust the height of your handlebars.If you bike's stack is 10mm lower than you'd like you just have to put up with it.It's really unfortunate.

The XO/90 build surprises me a little. XO cranks, with transmission 90. Looking at the cost difference it looks like less of a price-point decision and more like they see demand for cable shifting

Three gears in the front and seven in the back could be the perfect ratio for mountain biking! It's almost like it would give you three different gear "ranges" using the front shifter- one for climbing, one for descending, and one for everything in between. And the chain alignment could be so much straighter without having to pack all your gears onto one super wide cassette. I wonder why no one's thought of that yet? I can't think of any downsides.

I’m joking, appreciate that it’s not clear over text. There was a long inane discussion about this previously; of course one can choose to spec lighter tires, less draggy hubs or pound one less post ride beer to be more efficient but none of that is relevant to a discussion on friction losses in a gearbox. @sspomer @jeff.brines Really enjoyed the podcast especially the bits on how some of these gearboxes work. I agree that it’s unlikely they’ll come to pedal bikes that you actually want to Pedal- years and capital have gone in to CVT gearboxes to get them...

ADJUSTABLE CHAINSTAY LENGTH!!!!! Also, great review with lots of good details covered. One question I didn't think to ask until now: can you long shock it for more travel? I'm guessing it's not running a 65mm stroke shock, so I wonder if there's room in the linkage and rear triangle to bump up shock travel to a full 65mm and make it a bigger travel bike. If 160mm is good, maybe 170mm is even better. And regarding the review, did you test the LT with a DEG DF rear hub, and if so do you know what deadband setting was...

First season of Nico on the team yeah? Could be an interesting conversation at the end of year. Great team, great bike, great riders. Comes down to resource allocation and having more time for the guys that are left. Some unconscious rider hierarchy bias probably comes into it. How good would it be for Jordan to clap back at Jackson the year after he has the season of his life? Those two still battling years after their junior fight.

People have been saying gearboxes are the future for what, a decade now or more? I think they are really cool and innovative, but they aren't going to see widespread adoption or replacement of current drivetrains. They are heavier and less efficient, the frame also has to be built around it, which means if you don't want it for some reason, that frame is out for you. They are more complicated to maintain, shops don't have the expertise to deal with them widely across regions, and do the smaller brands like Pinion have the facility to deal with large scale...
