Another great race well deserved wins all round. WBD decision to show Tahnee's reactions during Finn's run showed a real lack of class. Whether they are dating or not has no relevance, it's not a soap opera. They weren't interested in Gaetan's reaction when Myriam was on a winning run. Scraping the barrel, gossip magazine shit.

So as was sort of pointed out a bit earlier in this thread... Dak's interview confirms that the High Roller 3 (at least DH version) is on the new un-announced Maxxis casing that they've been developing for a while. I'm sure partially or wholly in response to Continental. Neko mentioned that Maxxis was working on casings for a while but they weren't going to be ready for the 2024 season so they went to Continental for the higher performance envelope of their tires. I'm assuming Maxxis is tooling up to get the DHR2 and Assegai ready to ship with this...

Did anybody really talk about Danny's run? Feel like it was the underrated run of the race and not seeing a lot of talk about it. Not sure if it was touched on a bit and then forgotten but man... 17th at third split then just throw on the afterburners and send it all the way to 4th. Nearly podium'd. Absolutely flying on that GT. After all these years. Feel like if he'd nabbed a medal, even bronze, the run would be a lot more talked about for what it was. Maybe ultimately overshadowed by Loris having a 'decent' run...

Specialized has done some questionable things, especially on the legal end, but I don't feel pricing is an area they are adrift. After all, this isn't AIDS medication or some good/service needed for survival. They should price at whatever level they feel the market will pay for their product. If they are wrong, nobody buys their stuff. Their loss. There is also a lot of nuance around product pricing and the underlying psychology around it. I'm not sure they'll actually sell more if they cut enduro pricing $500. Its a premium product, and people are generally okay paying more or...

Yeah right! That said Hope actually did this. They calculated an amortized cost for the carbon bike including development time etc but then after a while they realized they had learnt so much from the project that could be applied to other carbon products and help to spread the sunk costs. So they dropped the price by £1000 (iirc) and gave a rebate to all the original customers! This is very Hope-like. In the Uk there was/is a salary sacrifice scheme you can use for buying a bike and save 25-30%. Hope signed up but it was a lot of...

It seems to me that the seat post would be the best place to generate electricity. Use the riders weight to generate power on the drop. It could charge the seat post battery as you use it. Then if you run out of shift battery, just switch the two.

I am kind of surprised that there haven’t been any devices that use regeneration to charge axs batteries. Can anyone calculate how many watts it would take to charge a battery that small? I feel like you could just run a copper coil in the jockey wheel or cassette and get all of that back on a descent or at least enough to only have to charge your batteries every month or more.

I'm old enough to remember Bontrager Buzzkills. Looks like there are some on eBay, I should scoop them up, triple the price, and call them World Cup DH Bar Plugs.

Who’s gonna be the hero to make a mass damper with only parts from Home Depot? I’m thinking PVC pipe and caps, springs from the random hardware section and maybe a stack of nuts on a piece of all thread for the weight. Bushings smaller pvc pipe? Edit- springs could be bungee cords too. That would be ideal. Nice and progressive

The downside for me personally has to do with spending that much time away from my family. My comment wasn’t meant to suggest anything negative about Taiwan itself. I place a high value on getting to be at home with my family every night. I have spent the majority of my career in manufacturing and it’s a lesson I learned early on from fellow welders and other manufacturing/construction trades that spent time “getting the bag” on jobs that included a lot of time away. The vast majority of them regretted it and took large pay reductions (30-50%) to get away...
