As long as "dampen" gets unironically typed every now and then to get us riled up, I think it's all fair game. As above, t his thread is indeed always active and always interesting.

Regarding “derailments;“ Every discussion in here is about tech and innovation. If we are discussing damper designs, rubber compounds, frame materials, etc. How are any of those discussions a derailment? Does everything HAVE to be a rumor? I haven’t seen anybody post a movie review, a story about a riding trip, or the current weather in Iowa. It’s all relevant. Funny thing about all those links people put up to discuss specific topics. Nobody engages with them. This thread is always active and always interesting. If rumors are sparse, what’s the harm?

The constant whinging that tech rumours is getting derailed is kind of annoying and derailing in itself. In my opinion its OK to discuss the tech rumour or current happenings for at least a page or two, and then they generally dissipate or move to other threads. If a legitimate large rumour or release happens it naturally takes over the thread anyway, they're discussing damping and leverage because there isn't a lot happening right now. Plus, Primoz, Teamrobot and Cascade make up some of the best and most knowledge members and are creating a valid discussion. For better or worse...

Not to mention the lack of information on shocks, shock tunes, suspension kinematics, etc. Hard to make a change if you don't know where you are, where you're going, or how to get there.

The availability of choice would work if shocks were easy to get and people were willing to swap out shocks. It's mostly a nope on both fronts - other than a custom valved boutique shock or a medium/medium tune from the big ones it's really hard to get a shock to fit your frame. Regardless of the air vs. coil conversation complicating things even more.

I just read the other site's review of the new Rock Mountain, and the reviewer thought the compression tune was too light and had both high & low fully closed. He moved up a compression tune and got along with the bike better (Fox X2). Rocky suggested that hard chargers could contact their local Fox dealer and get their rear shock retuned. Wasn't this the whole point of moving to the twin tube design? Other twin tubers like CC don't have frame specific tunes as far as I'm aware since there is a massive range for those damp(en)ers. If shocks...

It'd be nice to keep this thread on topic "tech rumors and innovation". This thread has been so off topic the last few weeks / months even. Ask yourself "does my comment have to do with tech rumors and or innovation"? If no, stop. Heres a quick guide to others places to chat about various other hot topics. prices talk aside ( in NZ a Tacky Chan retails for 159$NZ and to me it's NUTS ) has anyone seen any info about the actual chasing construction on the new Radials? the Gravity basically absorbs Super DH and Super Gravity into one chasing, and the Trail is the other option, and we got that, there's no information about the actual construction, like they shared on the Super chasing like in this pic, like. How many layers? is it the same but with the radial threads? if so did they do a mix between Gravity and DH or what? i...

I think it’s also worth mentioning - since I completely missed that from the Albert press pieces - that Magic Mary’s are also available in Pro Radial versions now.

They came out in sympathy with Europeans and decided to subsidise us when they saw the prices for Fox suspension this side of the pond. 😄

Still, all these comments on prices are dumb af The Tacky on the same website was around 60 when it was a new thing, and the current price is already down, wait a bit and the Albert will be sub 50€ like always

It’s about 61 euro per Albert gravity pro on R2 right now, which is admittedly higher than 42 euro per Tacky chan, but still very reasonable for us unfortunate enough to live in the US with crazy msrp prices for maxxis

Thanks for the video. Brings sooo many good memories! Damn I was always scared and excited to run this track. It was always a highlight of Morzine trips.

Champery track has changed quite a bit since the OG days of Sam Hill and Danny ripping it apart. They've added chicken lines everywhere to encourage more riders coming from the French side of the region to hit it. It's still a very very very steep and hard trail to ride, but now you have options if you're a mortal...

So it sounds pretty novel! Read all about it on the other site, and if AP was actually running 30 psi in the wet at Les Gets, then it really is a big change from existing tire tech. I believe AP has been on the French nearly-flat-tires program for a while prior to these. Very cool to see actual innovation in tire tech, although it sounds like this is more a case of borrowing an existing idea from another application (as it often is in the bike industry). And it sounds like it worked as advertised on the discontinued Maxxis...
