It's relevant to mention that most brands want their product's review published as soon as possible to coincide with the launch of the product, ideally on the same day. If it needs to be a long-term test, then the preference would be to have that long-term review published as early as possible, to maximize interest in the product during it's retail lifetime (aka before the next update, which will necessitate another round of reviews). It's perfectly OK having shitload of snowmobile trails in that area (and I've seen dirt bikes on them in summer, too), but MTBs are the danger zone.

The bike that launched the shock-destroying, clevis-extension era! The notched design with bolt on arms was a half baked emergency measure. The frame was originally designed for an elegant, albeit proprietary, one piece shock/yoke. Unfortunately the entire in-house suspension program at Specialized was scrapped before it ever made it to production. The notch/arm design was created to allow the use of any standard shock. I notched quite a eyelets in the Morgan Hill shop before the big suspension OEs got up to speed. There were only Qty8 of these beauties ever made. Just fitted the Maven lever tuning kit to my A1 silver brakes. I thought I would put this up here as I surprised there is no test info on this considering it’s a big selling point. First of all I personally haven’t had a problem with them from start. This silver set have been faultless but I have got another set of ultimates on my trail bike and it did take about 3 bleeds and lot of massages to get them working consistently like the silvers. But I do understand what people say about the stiffness in lever pull. Anyway...

For the record I think they’re making extremely smart decisions. But by playing it so safe and hitting everything down the middle they are losing a little bit of their edge (and I mean attitude edge not business edge…) the Levo R doesn’t excite us but I’ll be damned if that doesn’t become a ubiquitous sight at low-grade trailheads and greenways around the world
