I picked up a set of EVS slayco96 knee pads to try out. These tick a lot of boxes. CE level ii rated, super comfortable, not heavy at 680 grams for the pair, and have shin protection. They pass the “drop to your knees on concrete” impact test and I believe they would be very protective in a serious crash. Unfortunately, I usually ride in pants and these are just too bulky for mtb pants. Makes sense, they are intended for motocross.
