I've now seen multiple videos where people could reproduce a rattle sound without a chain so idk. I prefer to not believe the fanboys and girls on this. I've seen to many 'this motor doesn't rattle's claims over the years in reviews and posts to believe that when there is smoke there is no fire (in this case of motor...
The chainless comparison is for provoking the noise without the influences of the frame, kinematics and the focus on having to ride a difficult trail plus other stuff that can rattle. Just simulate what chain slap will do to the chainring by rocking it back and forth in quick succession and you'll hear if the motor theoretically can rattle in...
It would be better if you tested it specifically also with the chain off to discount for kinematics and resonances from the frame and isolate noise. There is also a psychoacoustic component: many people claim the bike is silent when just riding it because they focus on riding. And it's not really true that every motor brand or model has...

Was the motor rattle adressed? Its always sus that this is always danced around when new motors come out by most reviewers and only months or years later everyone agrees that this and that motor actually rattles while coasting dh. That's very vital information for a mountainbike!

Meh at the pressures I run my Schwalbe radials I do have exceptional traction and more than enough support 🤷🏼‍♂️ And stuff with tall knobs like the Mary, with the more compliant chasing feels more precise and less vague overall than the same tyre with the regular casing On natural wet or dry, off camber, wet or dry, I find them superior to regular casing

For those who don’t want to watch, specialized found radials faster on trails due to the conformation of the tire. Roads are worse with radials. My non science based opinion agrees. If someone watches it fully does spec plan to release lighter radials? That’d be dope.

I want max grip for riding off camber flat out. Schwalbe Radials are next level for natural terrain. If you want support and durability then stick to regular tyres.

In this video there's a discussion on how Spesh has been trying thread patterns with different angles in order to optimise radial and lateral stiffness. About 8 min in they are discussing how rolling resistance depend on surface and how that translates when it come to these so called radial casing tires.

I hope the Rogue chain ring protection holds up well; I generally like the design and it's sleek and minimalist. It's a bit absurd to me that so many of the brands using Avinox have foregone chain ring protection. Legit, the motor could be 100x better than a Bosch and it wouldn't matter w/o chainring protection for me as it would be useless for offroad riding. But 2 obvious points: That only works on the Rogue. But for any of the other Avinox powered bikes, the universal option is the 250 gram E13 bash ring. Which kind of looks terrible...

First, it's true, I've never even ridden an Avinox bike. My ego has no need to be 'right' about the Bosch, but I did choose what I considered the best bike with a great motor system. I would have been fine with an Avinox as well. I think the current and likely the future TQ motors are the top product honestly. The M1 rattled, ate up too much battery (inefficiency was addressed with the M2), and yah the motor system was 1# lighter than the Bosch, but once you add the needed chain ring protection to the Avinox they are...

What about the rattle tho? Somehow the rattle is never talked about if the motor is everybody's current darling. Back when Bosch was everybody's darling and the CX 4 rattled everyone only talked about how the Shimano rattled and had shitty batteries. I've seen multiple videos of basically all Avinox iterations rattle. So what's the tea there? As far as...

Refreshed the page and my answer was gone. So short form: first Bosch motor was derived from a windscreen motor. Electrical motors and lithium ion batteries are not new technologies and more power is limited by mechanics and battery capacity/quality/bmx but in the end you configure the motor power via software. Cheap chinese ebikes had thousands of watts for years...

Always look at rider weight when looking at tire pressure. Nino Schurter weighs 150 lbs. he can get away with 17psi. I weigh 200. I cannot get away with 17psi.
