The craziest part of the Levo R is the redesigned front triangle, this means spesh bothered to build new molds for a bunch of sizes just for this bike to save a few hundred grams? I could have totally understood if this was just a new linkage and shock to help move unsold frames... To their credit I will say the geometry looks great, and having it on sale today is a good move, because I think come April there will be half a dozen Avinox powered bikes that will be 2kg lighter for €2k less per build that will...

It is for cruising along nice bike paths and thats ok. My biggest hurdle with this new gen of levos is how high the battery is located, previous version had a removable battery too, but packaging is way better imho. Livabillity is enhanced this time, but Im not sure its right to trade performance for that

The bikes actually got heavier or stagnate over the last years because of the power race (mainly bigger batteries) and intube design plus bikes getting linger and burlier components/more travel. Making the battery non quick removalbe was the trick to shave weight again. So more power won't save weight. Together with gearboxes and 32 inch wheels we're looking at heavier...

Curious what your riding weight is when fully kitted up, and what mode you typically use for climbing? I'm a taller and heavier rider (~250lb kitted), and typically ride a ~50lb Bosch CX Gen 4 bike, but alternate between Eco/Off on flats/descents and Tour+ or eMTB modes when climbing to conserve range. I also still ride my SC Hightower when I really want to earn my climbs, but I don't see SL eMTBs being worth it over a normal MTB or full power eMTB for riders my size purely from a power to weight ratio difference.

True. But seriously so much power and it’s not even cycling anymore. I mean climbing isn’t climbing it’s just going up hill. And 55lb going down hill is just not the same. I hope, and I see some company’s are figuring it out. I already have a moto bike.

If someone is going 30mph up a multi use trail blowing past hikers I don’t think hikers are gonna care if the rider has been going 30mph for 10 seconds or 10 minutes

I don't really understand the arms race in wattage. Current battery energy density limits me to riding in trail mode in order to obtain any reasonable range on my rides. It doesn't do me any good to have 1000w available if I'm only ever riding in the 500w mode to conserve battery life. To me, this just increases the threat of ebike bans where relationships are already strained on many trail networks. It's somewhat expected to see DJI not giving a fuck about US regulations when there are surrons flying all over city streets illegally, but I would have thought...

Question about Schwalbe radial tires. Is there a noticeable difference in ride feel between the Schwalbe Magic Mary Trail and the Gravity version? I’m planning to run it on the front of my enduro bike. So far, I’ve been using Maxxis EXO+ tires on the front without any issues (no punctures). I do care about weight since I pedal this bike a lot, therefore, from a ride-feel perspective, is the extra weight of the Gravity casing worth it?

You'd need an extensive test ride. In the alps riding up steep hiking trails I think I need at least 400-500Watts and maybe 60-80 nm torque. But its hard to say. I think i have my levo in turbo set at 80% motor power and 40 ease or assistance. Never touched shuttle as I'm not interested in fireroad races. I'd...

It's so hard to gauge which power you need. I also thought about getting a fazua bike but I was weary if the power and range would be enough. My levo gen 3 and bosch cx 4 are too powerful for me though. I didn't even crank up my e8000 all the way up. Yet with the levo I also...

Relative weights? What does that mean? I hate the trend that batteries always need to have more capacity while the motor needs to be more powerful. That way we will never have low weight and high power. I want a mid-power, mid-weight, mid-travel ebike. The Orbea is too niche and expensive for my taste and what you're getting. The ideal...

DJI/Avinox: My local amflow shop had some info about upcoming updates, but seemed to have specifically not been told the battery capacity. Definitely wouldn't buy an ebike right now until the full avinox/amflow refresh details come out in a few weeks. Orbea news: cool idea and tech, but if they really wanted to move the needle the tq60 with a double crown fork build would have been insane. I also think the industry is shooting itself in the foot trying to make the SL bikes more premium (i.e. expensive) than full fat builds. Now we have an ultra SL and...

I mean it depends on customization. You can tame every motor with the right software. But it's true as in my Bosch bike with the cx 4 and simple purion display had modes with a rather weak Eco mode and then 3 very powerful modes that felt too much to me as a light rider. It kinda made me ride...

Came to the same conclusions after testing 10+ e-bikes on trails around Alps. But for me it’s not only the weight but the power itself. I kinda enjoyed full power as a novelty and also see its potential in winter (snow/mud) but for consistent/normal riding it is simply too fast. Mid power is just enough to make the climbing easier enough for me but I am not climbing at such intense speed that it takes away the meditative nature of an uphill journey. And then on the way down it feels pretty much exactly as a normal bike. Perhaps slightly...
