12/8/2023 2:17pm That's brilliant. No creaking? I'd love to give one of those a try, if you decide to sell some and will ship to the US.

12/7/2023 6:57am 12 speeds seem excessive on most bikes, and are certainly excessive on e-bikes. I run 11 speed on everything.

12/7/2023 6:55am Oh and I think they put 12 speed cassettes on e-bikes because that’s what they put on their pedal bikes… and what do you mean by ground clearance? if I get six gears I’m definitely keeping those low ones.

12/6/2023 11:58am That's not how T works. The T derailleur reacts instantly but the chain doesn't change over until it hits the correct teeth on the cassette, which is where the delay comes from. This wouldn't change with a cable operated Transmission.

12/6/2023 11:55am Yeti's dealer base is shrinking due to Specialized and Trek buying all the big players in major markets. They have no choice but to sell direct. Any brand who doesn't sell direct is stupid. Dealers don't have any cash to buy inventory and bike brands need cash to pay bills to factories and suppliers. Yeti having a sale is smart. Clear out inventory and get cash in the bank. Brands with cash and no debt will win this battle.

12/5/2023 9:35am Not only that, but the military is much more risk tolerant than the general population. Military aircraft require insane amounts of maintenance and still go catastrophically wrong relatively frequently because of how complex they are. Their operators accept those risks as part of the job. Not to mention that fly-by-wire is used in fighter jets to keep them in the air, because they're often so aerodynamically unstable that any human pilot would crash one using traditional controls. It's not just for the fun of it.

12/5/2023 9:33am Wireless brake tech certainly wouldn't be all that complicated. Small motor controlling a little piston that pushes fluid into the calipers. But there is a ton of drawbacks and zero benefits besides no cables (who cares) Lag time from lever to brakes, no real way to create brake feel, you are adding weight in general but all the weight you are adding is unsprung weight.

12/5/2023 9:21am A $280 Bomber doesn't get you much; a harsh and digressive base valve setup prone to breaking wave springs, a super high IFP pressure, and (from the stock ones I have had) an over damped rebound stack. An Avalanche tuned Bomber CR is light years better, but is also usually $600-$700 when you are done. The PUSH SV8 looks to be a solid $500-$600 shock with a nice "made in Colorado" markup, and an HBO heavily influenced by the stroke you are running.

12/5/2023 8:59am I never look at how my toy purchases will resale, dirt bikes, mountain bikes, Jeeps, trucks... I look at is as will the purchase price be worth it over the expected life span of said toy. Any money made at the end of life is a bonus! If I didn't think it was worth it I wouldn't have bought it. I hadn't bought an ebike yet because they were stupid expensive, but with the sales happening now I picked up a badass bike for $3999, so it became worth it.

12/5/2023 8:53am This thread was inspired by another forum topic, What do you prioritize from an e-bike? Jason floated the question about various performance parameters like range, power, weight, or the ability to use it as a regular non-powered bike, but one big topic seemed to be missing for me. Namely, the ability to access repairs at a reasonable cost outside the first two years of ownership. I've heard horror stories about motors being slightly out of warranty, new motors not fitting on the old mounts, and having to go on the black market to find a half-solution to get an e-bike...

12/5/2023 9:05am Exactly. I got really lucky with buying a Relay because I find it to be just perfect for me for my 1 one e-bike, and my first. If I had bought the Trek (not enough power or battery or travel and just as heavy) or the Levo SL (slack STA and short CS length) I'd already be looking at selling...

12/5/2023 8:42am Add another option robot "I'll update when the tech advances enough it becomes impossible to resist" ie weight, range, price. My last eeb I had for 2.5 years, I think I'll do the same with this one. The tech is not evolving at a rate for me to want to upgrade. When 180mm travel full power bikes that have burly gear are 22kg I'll upgrade.

11/30/2023 11:07am In my experience as a sponsored athlete, I found a surprising amount of sponsorship and financial support by being a familiar face at regional races, where I was able to consistently be at or near the top of the results sheet. By contrast, chasing the national series or the World Cup dream was EXPENSIVE (like 5-10x more expensive) and getting anything less than a podium at a national was effectively meaningless to sponsors. As a sponsored athlete, it's important to remember that your job is not to be fast or win races. Your job is to sell bike products. If...

11/30/2023 11:01am Nicolai Saturn 16 for example in Small has 465-469 reach for their standard frame sizes, so Ancillotti is pretty spot on with their reach numbers.

11/30/2023 10:57am Just to try and make sure this little bit makes sense, a yoke is essentially a method to increase the eye-to-eye length of a shock. It is rigidly connected to the shock so increasing the length of the yoke can be viewed as increasing the eye-to-eye. This is also what Specialized flip chips do. The Enduro is an interesting one because there are a few things going on that can do this. To correct geo for the smaller rear wheel you need to make the shock yoke about 6mm longer. There is not enough clearance to go this far. The...

11/30/2023 11:03am It was something that was told to me by a well-known suspension tuner. Truthfully looking at this new shock a bit more, I just don't get where it fits in with its price point (in spite of my earlier enthusiasm). Besides the HBO what are you getting that a $280 Bomber doesn't get you? If it came with true custom...

11/30/2023 10:05am I've owned a couple of Avy tuned shocks as well as the current Super Deluxe with HBO. With HBO you don't need to alter rebound since the HBO only kicks in during compression and doesn't add any spring energy. HBO feels smoother on large drops when you max out travel - like you're landing on a pillow; however as you point out the HBO on the Push is non-adjustable, so how well it will work on any given bike is unknown.
