As for the travel question, I guess the main change with a 150 fork would be head angle and BB height (140 shock travel comes from a spacer removal so it won’t affect geo beyond a little extra sag). Thing is, this bike is plenty slack for such a short travel fork…I really don’t think it needs more. My philosophy with short travel bikes is to enjoy them for what they are, and not try to get them to do too much of something they weren’t made for. And I really like what it does with the stock numbers…

I plan on getting a coil shock review going on it shortly, I’m thinking it should work well but we’ll see. The stock shock does a good job, I have no complaints with it. Poppy and comfortable enough. Pretty sure coil will be really fun though!

I put one on about 3 months ago and am really happy w/ it compared to the stock Float X and the Kitsuma Air I tried. I'm a lighter rider (135lbs kitted) so running a 350lb spring which provides lots of traction and a nice pop (I'm at 140/150 as this is my do-it-all bike).

If you keep travel the same and increase progression you usually get a higher leverage ratio at the sag point. If you keep the leverage at sag the same you generally loose a little travel. On a bike like the enduro, the flip chip does actually increase average leverage ratio if you put it in the high setting. Fairly similar to running a mullet yoke on that bike as it’s only something like 1.5mm shorter. Very cool! I will try this. I watch the Vorsprung video to get the %'s. Seems like all my settings are around 1.80 - 1.85. Even compared to my Trek Session I was around 1.85ish. An interesting point in the Vorsprung video is the balence at 50% travel. On my Commencal V5 frame, the rear axel goes reward the first 50% of travel, about 10mm which would change my ratio from 1.80 to 1.75. But this is also not calculating the reduction of wheelbase as the fork compresses. So I'll need to open up the kinematics model and get some...

Are you seriously worried about 50g difference in shock weight on a 63mm stroke shock? I could cut my hair and lose 50g 😂 In my case where in the total system, the bike is maybe 20% of the weight, 50g especially on a performance suspension component is a trade off I’m willing to take.

Specialized Status from that year had a reach of 430mm in medium and 450mm in large. I had both and I'm 5'11''(180cm) and both were rideable but too small for me. You're taller than me so I'd recommend at least 480mm of reach though ideally something with more than 500mm of reach would be best. Have a look at the second hand bike section and try getting a part time job and saving up to buy that bigger bike. You can always get a Works components +10mm reachset for your status in the meantime.
