2/27/2026 10:28am That got me thinking about who makes fancy squishy bits, off the top of my head: - PUSH - Vorsprung - EXT - Fast - Bright - Manitou (arguable?) - Cane Creek (arguable?) Who else?

2/26/2026 1:05pm I’ll never forget when I was last in Morzine the shop I rented from had a Phoenix frame in the window for 5400 euros. I chuckled each day I went to pick up the bike. On the final day that frame was replaced with an Amflow.

2/24/2026 1:23pm Remy's IG profile is still up, you're just spelling his name wrong. I doubt he's retiring, I believe he left giant with a 1 year contract with pivot last year that would be extended if he did well and he didn't and got screwed because of it. Probably couldn't find a team this year as with a lot of other riders out there I guess, hopefully he manages to get something together to race this year.

2/23/2026 9:03am The 14x0.1 is the check shim so leave that in - I would instead take the original medium tune (3 x 14mm OD shims and 2x 12mm x 0.15mm shims) and leave 1 x 14 x 0.15 and 1 x 12 x 0.15. Stack height I don't think is mega critical but it is good practice so what you can do is place the spares between spacer shims where they will do nothing ie- Piston 14 x 0.15 12 x 0.15 7 x 0.3 - spacer 14 x 0.15 14 x 0.15 12 x 0.15 7 x 0.3 -spacer 7...

2/23/2026 9:02am Apologies if this is too far off topic, but... asking for a friend... what's the most economical way to address overdamped rebound on a Lyrik D1 Select+ (Charger 3.0 / 27.5 / 160mm)? Friend in question just got his 9 year old ripper a size XS Bronson 4.1 that came with that fork. The kid is only like 80 lbs fully geared up with full body armor and DH helmet. He races BMX and will be riding the bike at Northstar every weekend next summer. In stock config he couldn't use more than like 90mm travel with no tokens and...

2/23/2026 8:47am Sorry if I'm now spamming this, but anyone reading this thread should be interested to know Tony Foales book MOTORCYCLE HANDLING AND CHASSIS DESIGN: the art and science is back in print after 20 years, and in that time I don't think I've found a better reference book on the topic! Get it now so you don't need to wait decades like I have to buy a copy! I've got a physical copy of the original 80's book but the second edition added a TON of excellent information that is still highly relevant https://a.co/d/bmfsZFI

2/23/2026 8:34am Haha, not your conversation, just my own issues. Sorry if it came across like a grumpy old man 😂 No tokens always seems like the logical place to start for me. Don’t add them unless you find that you need them. I’m a big fan of the MRP ramp cartridge personally.

2/22/2026 10:36pm These are great questions. You're absolutely right that sag measurements or recommendations are not sacrosanct or miraculous, and there are instances where more or less sag than recommended is going to yield a better riding bike. But we're talking about nuances that are way, way, way above the average rider, and lightyears above the riders that Jordi is speaking to on those Fox videos. As a company, Fox has to deal with angry customers and bad online reviews from people who are riding three or four spring rates off from correct sag and complaining about the compression settings being "too...

2/22/2026 10:24pm I came here to share my disappointment of the lack of Rocky Mountain recommendations. Nice to see someone chime in. If we stick to the 120-140mm travel bracket, don't sleep on a 2022-2024 Element. Those bikes are far more capable that the travel number lets on and work well with 140mm fork options.

2/22/2026 10:24pm Had a similar dilemma and ended up on a rocky mountain instinct due to some pretty crazy deals, long chainstays, deep dropper insertion, and fairly light weight. Only had 1 ride on it but am stoked so far.

2/22/2026 10:18pm Tallboy is a beloved bike but I found it to be not quite what I was looking for. I had mine built up with an overforked Fox 36. The result was a 120mm bike that was barely better on the uphills and definitely worse on the downhills than my 150mm bike. I had a Transition Sentinel and Santa Cruz Tallboy in stable at the time and going back and forth between the two was pointless. The Sentinel was only slightly heavier and substantially better on the downs. Not to say the Tallboy is a bad bike but for my skills...

2/22/2026 9:31am Can't say I've any time on Mavens, period (Wisco Pride n all) but this highlights why I never buy 1st gen anything. There's things you learn in development, then there's things you learn in the field after release. What's acceptable to the folx on payroll (lever feel/input here) may not be acceptable to the wider market. A smaller MC piston will provide a lighter touch when pushing bigger caliper pistons, but it necessitates longer throw due to fluid displacement in the system. There's no way of circumventing that because physics. So it looks like Magura has something right with the...

2/21/2026 3:13pm S4 Sight is a possibility, chainstays appear a bit short at first but they do sit around 445 at sag if that's your jam. I also rode a fugitive at one point and the Sight is much more capable, even with the full 29-Fox 36 build. If you like the idea of a mid pivot bike, it executes the design...

2/21/2026 3:02pm The Norco Sight is a sleeper option here. Its a super lively bike - combo'ed with the high pivot, you get the best of both worlds. Its a sick kinematic - playful and poppy but when you put it in a straight line is can plow. Been on one all year and love it.

2/21/2026 2:58pm Yeah, that doesn’t look ideal at all. I had much the same clearance issue on mine and ended up fitting this little number: https://finesse-components.com/products/seatstay-chip-protector-for-for… It’s been spot on so far. Keeps the paint on the frame nicely protected and helps flick the worst of the mud away from the tyre, so you don’t end up with it grinding away at the paint like in your photo.

Jokes aside, I have had no problems with my Mavens, and would be really happy to see a Shimano equivalent for those that prefer Shimano.

2/20/2026 6:25pm The hopes ship with green, black and purple. Greens are race oriented, very powerful, wear quick. I actually have never tried the blacks, they're resin. Purples are marketed as a ebike pad, they're a sintered setup. They're actually pretty good, great power and last ages. I often run a green up front and Purples out back 👌
