2/20/2026 6:25pm In the past V4 brakes shipped with multiple sets of pads. Awhile a go it was the red (all round organic) and gold (sintered). My last set had green (high performance organic), red, and purple (heavy use oganic). I stil use the sintered out of choice because even though they're not the most powerful, they are the most consistent.

2/18/2026 9:44pm The bronze don't have contact adjust, if you care about that sort of thing. But if an update is around the corner, the 2nd hand market will look a lot more attractive

2/18/2026 12:04pm I was talking about patching them in the workshop at home. Enduro casing tires and up being $100+ now I’m going to patch a punctured tire if it still has good tread.

2/17/2026 11:40pm Iirc they use the product as shipped, as it's much more relevant than people mix and matching which doesn't happen on stock bikes. It's one of the better brake tests done, sorry it's not to your standards. I'll kindly wait your entirely free review of 14 brake systems in and out of the lab, until then, maybe be a touch more accepting.

2/17/2026 11:39pm Best solution I've had is using a thin needle and 40-80lb braided fishing line to stitch it up and then use some sort of flexible adhesive (shoe goo etc) with a patch on the inside of the tire. Managed to seal up a few decently sized snakebites and get another thousand or so km out of some tires.

2/11/2026 1:39pm NO shot they sold more V10s. They may have sold them quicker, but that is because quantity is lower. Even as some DH market grows, it is still very small compared to all the other full squish bikes. Sucks to see spec dropping the alloy demo. Such a good bike and value. See tons of them everywhere. But i guess they are trying to go after high market only. Really wish they would have made a fuckin s5 for that alloy demo. Jerks.

2/11/2026 9:02am I recently got the new Dissector v2 (MaxTerra EXO 2.4WT) aka baby Assegai and it is exactly something I always dreamt of for a short travel trail bike (140/130). I use my small bike for XC type riding in the rockies. Conditions are usually very dry, loose dirt and loose rock on top of hardpack. The side knobs are wide yet not too tall. This makes them very stable and gives you that DHF level locked in feeling during hard cornering. Lack of side knob stability was my main complaint with Forekaster v2 and this solves that. The center tread...

2/11/2026 8:45am I find it really hard to believe they sold more v10s than nomads and Hightowers. But I’d agree with the sentiment that more people are in the dh market than say pre pandemic and a lot of people who’d be buying a new nomad are springing for a bullit instead. Would be awesome to get some product managers in here with some sales percentages across their models.

2/11/2026 8:45am There's a team spec model with the Brembos, so it's just a matter of when they're released. Seems like the brake launch is tied to the bike launch. Curious if the DH transmission launch will be at the same time as Sram was involved in the Demo's development. In Korea, we're only getting the team spec, S-works, and frame-only, so no info on any other models, which makes me curious if Brembo will have a 2nd-tier model at launch.

2/11/2026 8:44am I just ordered a Chisel. Originally was going for an Epic Evo but there were none. Went for an Epic and then a Chisel Evo as well. The only thing left in stock in medium between anything in the Epic/Chisel line under 8k was a Chisel comp in one color, so I'm guessing something's coming down the pipe for those models as well unless specialized is finally doing a low stock year to try and kill old inventory. There were a mix other sizes but for bread and butter level bikes in mediums and larges were all low or out...

2/9/2026 8:34am Just a thought on bike weights. For ever, everybody has been going for the lightest weight bikes possible. And with the narrow wide chainring, chain guides have pretty much disappeared. But now riders are sticking lead weights to their bottom brackets. What if the good old MRP style chain guide came back, but made out of plate steel instead of alloy?
