4/28/2026 10:31am Most of you probably won't like hearing this. I certainly didn't. Earlier this week I had a chat with a guy who works in a product management role for Ralf Bohle GmbH, which is the owner of the Schwalbe tire brand. Mainly I asked a bunch of XC racing related questions, about compounds, casings, radial ply, rolling resistance testing, wheter we'll ever see the speediest XC casing with a black sidewall and why they felt they needed to change their naming scheme for casings and compounds. The gist of it is that they are hard at work behind the scenes...

4/22/2026 9:57am It would be really cool if they kept selling the current aluminum demo with a poverty spec for people that don’t want to refinance their house. For what it’s worth that bike seemed universally liked.

4/19/2026 11:11pm This Just In! Stark Motorcycles is going to be joining the MTB world with its EBike Called the Stark “NotaMoto”. This ebike has 80 horse power and a gear box. Apparently they made the decision to join the bike industry after one of the executives said- “ I mean its all bullshit. You can buy an ebike from Specialized at the same price as our motorcycles. But with like 1/1000th the power. We should just put mountain bike wheels on a Varg and just sell it to them. Theyre just in denial that they want a motorcycle and want to...

4/16/2026 11:02am Hey all, I can finally take off my very sneaky blue tape camouflage to reveal that yes, I’m reviewing the new Nomad. Because I’ve spent so many years on the old Megatower, I’m framing this as a Megatower vs. Nomad comparison. Especially interesting for me because of the rumors that the Megatower is going away and the new Nomad does not take 29” rear wheels. I only have a couple rides in on the new bike, but so far the geometry feels really good and the bike feels solid and stout. Weirdly I haven’t been able to figure out the...

4/15/2026 7:04am That makes a lot of sense, I appreciate that. I have been doing this so long I forget sometimes, honestly. I guerrilla marketed One Ghost Industries for the better part of 10 years and never got any flack for it. Different times now and I know I am a bit out of touch. I also don't have a lot of free time to spend in the forums, which sucks all the way around. Two jobs and a family with two younger kids each with an autoimmune disease (on top of my own health issues) makes it difficult. I also haven't...

4/13/2026 11:17am It's probably less about the extra forces a dual-crown puts on the frame these days, I think you're right about that. The one important issue to keep in mind though is that the stanchions will bump against the head tube junction area, and if the frame is not built to take the resulting direct force in that particular area you could easily cause an issue in a crash.

4/10/2026 7:37am The Vancouver hardline is going to be bonkers. You can take a city bus to Cypress. Compare this to tassie or even the wales site where you had to either make a big flight or drive a long way. They could literally have every inch of the course covered with people if they want. What a treat for us west coasters. Never could pull the trigger on flying to watch a WC on the east coast, now we have WC Whistler and a hardline in the same year.

4/10/2026 7:23am One argument that’s been lost on me is the claim that theirs still a speed limit on the bike , so it’s ok. There’s even a comparison above to the Tesla plaid cheetah mode. My perspective is that there’s also a big difference. Yes, you can take an insanely powerful Tesla out on the roads, but that’s inherently a structured environment. There’s signs , lanes, reflectors for the edge of the road, clear sight lines, etc. So if you’re gonna go do 120 in a Tesla you have at least some chance of predicating or seeing what all the other...
