I comment on the other site, but I draw the line at pedal assist. Once you're introducing a throttle it stops being an E-MTB and starts being a motorbike with MTB geo.

We talk about the tech and the rumors until there is new tech and rumors to talk about. I don’t understand what you haters are getting confused about. Thread derailleurs are part of the game, baby.

Short chainstays don't help you load the front...they do the reverse...

I know there's already a bunch of info on it, but looks like Ritchie Rude was racing on the new Fox USD fork at the Squamish Enduro on the weekend.

A 29" Marzocchi 58. I want a cheap(er), reliable dual crown for my single speed park set up, but I'm 6'4 and don't want 27.5 up front...

Yeah them saying its just a prototype and absolutely nothing more I dont believe. There is a reason it was on like 10 different bikes at sea otter. Also, having made moulds for the carbon leg-guards, rather than using an already existing diameter of carbon tube seems expensive. And some of the plastic bits looked injection moulded, not 3d-printed. So it seems like there is a lot invested for something allegedly not being planned for production. I believe some people here in the thread said June release for this fork. Looking at how buttoned up it looks, does not seem...

This Fox USD fork looks pretty buttoned up with off tool bits - any word on when this will hit the market?

Quite often running used parts off returned/warrantied bikes that can't be resold. I've got a lot of kit that way.

Yes. We had a standard that did not require threads to be cut into either frames *or* the calipers themselves. Roach a thread and you don't need to repair a frame, replace a caliper, or bleed your brake line -- just replace a cheap aluminum adapter. And don't get me started on how many slightly different lengths of flat-mount brake bolts are out there because every different chainstay depth requires a different bolt. Flat-mount brakes: brought to you by the same minds that think thru-headset cable/hose routing is a perfectly fine idea.

I’m a big proponent that steel hardtails should always have adjustable dropouts also so they can be run single speed.

Super Tacky isn’t used much anymore outside of the Wetscream. Essentially it’s the stickiest compound from MaxxGrip, but only that without the firmer base and center compounds.

Bringing it full circle from complain-stays... What's the current/future meta in geometry? Seems like stacks are still coming up little by little while hta's have stabilized. Maybe hta's haven't stabilized, but more the resurgence of all mountain has created a space for a bike where hta's can stabilize. What's the future of pedal bike geometry going to be like that we don't see today. I think the firebird is a good example of progressive geo but adjustability to bring it back to moderate. Feels to me like higher stacks with the same reach numbers, +5mm longer stays from the current...
