I think we can all agree that everyone raced the same course under the same conditions and the best rider for that run stood on the top step at the end of the day. I enjoy the variations and nuance of each world cup track and quite frankly wish there was a broader spectrum in the course design. Snowshoe asked some questions of riders that haven't been asked yet this season, and some riders had better answers than others. From the interviews I watched it seemed unanimous that Snowshoe provided the hard test of rider and machine thus far on...

On a positive note I just watched the Sleeper shredit from Snowshow and oh boy am I hyped for downhill racing! If you're not into paying Chris Ball 20 quid a year that's fine. Between Sleeper, Lawlor, Cathro, Wyn, Moimoi and Eddie you won't miss a beat. The racing this year has been the best of all time and all the best coverage is free. What a cool sport to watch and what a cool industry that supports these amazing video guys to be at the races. I'm off to watch it again.

I don't think you've said anything there that requires a tinfoil hat, writing's on the wall. Every time a rider says the semis suck ESO rub their hands together.

The point of semis was to suck. (Tinfoil hat on) ESO didn't want to do semis, they wanted to cut straight to 30 elite men from qualifying. They got negotiated into keeping 60 qualifying spots, but came up with semis as a half assed way to still end up at 30 riders in the final. ESO has no incentive to...

At first I was a little put off by not offering qualifying and semi points, but I suppose they did that so that if the season is close (like it is) they wouldn't be awarding a championship for a quali or semi run. That being said it would have been even more interesting if they would have put all the points on the finals run. It would have made things a bit spicier! As it stands now it looks like Loic only controls his own destiny if he finishes in 2nd or better. Loris can take it home if he...

Also curious if he's able to show a tad more restraint in his commenting. I feel like every rider he sees coming down is able to win the overall...

The thing I'm really holding out for is Cedric finally getting the terminology right about being up or down on time. Probably too much to ask though.

If racing World Cup dh racing is part of a companies marketing, minnaar can’t be selling many reserve rims or maxxis tires with the amount he’s had tire/wheel issues this season. It’s getting to be a bit if a joke

As much as I'd like to see him racing it's nice to know the commentary will be worth listening to for the last 2 races.

Fox US Open of MTB Downhill finals are this Sunday, September 24, at Killington. The start time for the Open class finals is TBD, because the amateur classes start racing at 11:15 with Open women and men starting after all other classes are done, and the amount of time it will take for the amateurs depends on how many racers there are. Last year's men's and women's champs (Norton & Hoffmann) are apparently back this year. No live stream, but apparently Vital will have a replay on its Youtube channel after the races are done. Live timing will be on...

The hypothesis this thread centers around needs work. Here is what we can likely all agree on: Sales in the specialty bicycle industry are down year over year since the "COVID Boom". As a result, its possible marketing budgets are being reduced which will result in a tapering of ad spending. How much this has an impact on the "online media cos" such as PinkBike is very much TBD. Pinkbike is huge relative to the size of the sport. This size gives them a lot of "operational agility". For example, if they really wanted to, they could cut 80-90% of...

To be fair, I think the context of Neko's statement is that the organizer's should assume (by communicating with teams, managers & racers) that they can race the track in the rain. Meaning...if the organizers were meeting in advance and throughout the week with the racers & teams, the teams could say "if it rains, it will be a shit show, but it will be a raceable shit show." When I ran races, you ALWAYS had a contingency plan for rain. You had your waterproof gear, you knew the potential "cliff/rock" features that could get unrideable or be serious fall...

Dh may be the f1 of mountain biking. But it’s the professional disc golf of racing sports. Unless you mountain bike almost nobody cares and the percentage of mtbers that watch World Cup dh is slim. Now that doesn’t take away how amazing it is and how hard these athletes and teams work to take part. But to think the sport is suddenly going to become popular by cutting the field and participants is just frankly stupid thinking.
