Anyone find any footage of the gap to slab to mega fucked left hander. I understand why there wasn't a live feed cam there but it would have been a blast to see the action from that spot. Also what a great race.

Yeah that was the worst crash I’ve seen in a while. A heavier rider and I think that bike would’ve just snapped in half instead of ejecting her otb. Amazed she doesn’t seem to have a significant injury.

Sag isn't any more nonsense that the manufacturer's recommended pressure. Pick one as a starting point and tune from there. Document the changes and how they feel. Only change one thing at a time. It's a basic troubleshooting process and it's more important to be able to track changes and correlate those to the results than where your starting point...

You’re 100% right. A mellow ride that has one drop to flat can bottom your suspension but a DH track with multiple successive hits might use 80-90%. Your spring rate (and rebound because it’s a function of spring rate) should not change track to track unless there are some really big hits or something like that. Minor tweaks to compression is really where it’s at. If you do major changes track to track your suspension is just not set up properly.

That’s another misnomer for me, this concept that you should be using all of the travel on your fork no matter what trail you ride? I mean surely if you ride a relatively smooth trail and only use 120mm of your 160mm, why should that mean that you should soften your suspension to use all of the travel instead of maybe you only need 120mm of travel for that trail? I mean it’s not about how much travel you use, it’s about how the suspension is working for you, or am I just completely confused here?

I check sag on both fork and shock when first setting up. Afterwards make adjustments from there. Sag is a starting point, not the end all and be all. I have all my settings recorded along the way with notes of how the changes felt. I'll check travel usage on both ends to help keep front and rear balanced.
Altimeter works great on my Fenix 7, no issues with the Fenix 5 it replaced either. For a do it all fitness / smart watch Garmin is hard to beat. Fenix / Epic at the top end with sapphire screens are great and tough as nails.

Pure curiosity question. Can someone explain to me how holes in the stanchions get oil to the bushings? I can't figure out how it's supposed to work? How do the holes get oil from the lowers up and onto the outside of the stanchions?

I've been riding a Tacky Chan in the front (super trail, ultra soft) that replaced a Magic Marry for the summer here in GA. Most trails are some level of loose over hardpack. The MM was just about perfect fall/ winter tire since it punched through the leaves and pine needles on the trails. The trails are softer too since they aren't baking dry in the heat. As trails have dried out I was folding the edge knobs on the harder/ dryer sections and was debating going back to a DHF for summer. The Tacky Chan has the casing and...

Hahaha we recorded a fresh B Practice Pod this morning chatting about U.S. Natty Champs, and we talked about the front tire test a bit. I had to give Dak credit for hyping up Vee tires since we all liked the Attack HPL. But turns out he's never ridden that tire and always runs the Attack FSX. Go figure! He said he likes the FSX because it reminds him of a DHR II. Also, the podcast will go live sometime in the next few hours.

The Vermettes recently moved to Cortez from Durango so that they could ride moto year round(like the Tomacs!). According to his dad he doesn’t really do any other training besides riding moto and having fun on his bicycles, he played rec soccer for 12 years, and around the time he quit soccer they started homeschooling him so he has more time for mid-day moto.

On the same topic of fast kids who will be at world cup age next year, keep an eye out for tyler waite and oli clark from nz. Both have done incredibly well in the New Zealand dh scene often challenging or beating times of elite riders. Tyler also managed a clean sweep in pump track, dual slalom and dh at crankworx cairns for u17. They’re gonna have a significant impact on the world cup junior scene most likely

I checked my notes. I went from 70psi to 87 psi after a lower service and air spring lube, no new parts just pulled apart and properly lubed. There was a finger width (20-25mm) thick blob of grease across the entire piston, both in the positive and negative chamber. I'm sure friction was reduced from the fork being properly oiled...

Completely agree with all of this! They're already riding over around 5 days, so a couple of days practice and then a quali day. If weather looking poor for the following day, they run as a race day instead, or even the following day (Sunday). Also agree on the alternative lines, even if just for the two 90 footers and the road gap? Make them technical detours and it would still be awesome to watch with adverse weather.

Hardline is somewhat invite only is it not? Or at least choice riders. No Jr racers and not a couple hundred people on track, and you know what your signing up for with hardline, kind of like Rampage which also has death at every corner. World cup has Jr racers, hundreds of people on track over the weekend and less time to pick apart and practice so shouldn't they be held to a higher standard of safety and course design? It's the top tier of the sport and it should be treated as such. Going back a few years, would...

Bernard Kerr is TEAM ROBOT's consensus 2023 Hardline World Champion for being the first (and only?) one to do a full practice run in those windy and wet conditions, including both 90 foot gaps. Give him the gold medal.
