12/22/2023 3:45am The UDH is sacrificial, but it doesn't protect the derailleur it protects the frame. Sometime people think the replaceable derailleur hanger is to protect the derailleur. It is not, it protects the frame. One of the potential downsides to transmission is that without a sacrificial derailleur hanger, there is more potential to damage the frame (or hub) in a crash.

12/21/2023 4:49pm Seems like frame designers can have adjustable chainstay length or UDH. You can't really have both. unless you go all-in and make modular dropouts like the Banshee Titan or the new Forbidden DH bike. IMO this is the worst part about UDH. Privateer seems to think their typical customer is going to be happier to have adjustable dropouts than the option of running SRAM Transmission, albeit at the cost of an easily sourced universal derailleur hanger.

12/21/2023 4:48pm Perhaps, but it is really nice to be able to just go into a shop and buy a UDH when it gets damaged rather than having to order frame specific hanger.

12/21/2023 4:48pm The lack of UDH could really help or hinder them. Especially with very nice offerings from both Bird and Airdrop at the moment

12/21/2023 4:02pm No. Replaceable derailleur hangers are designed to break to save your frame not your derailleur.

12/18/2023 2:56pm For the record, I have Max and will pay for the addon to watch MTB racing. I still think it is another move that will limit the viewership and hurt MTB racing overall. It does not grow the sport or make it attractive to sponsors.

12/18/2023 4:02am To be fair they haven't realesed the product yet, so I think its justifiable to not have any information on it. It is a growing trend in the industry though, quite a few brands are now not publishing detailed suspension data, Atherton and We are One come to mind, neither of their bikes post leverage curves, anti-squat graphs etc.

12/16/2023 5:32pm Fox was having riders test a new damper last year. Maybe updated grip 2 (grip 3?) and trickling down the old grip 2?

12/15/2023 12:24pm Crankworx must be loving this. Personally I think that any teams/riders that are on the fringe of qualifying should be considering doing more CX events. Comparing the YT numbers but given it’s finals vs semi finals the Crankworx views are quite a bit higher. If they were to add 2 more races they are only 1 behind World Cups. More global races, free on Red Bull tv with Rob and Elliot and bigger prize money. Isn’t that what everyone has been wanting?

12/15/2023 12:24pm Considering there were no semis and juniors weren't shown, looking at Discovery's YT numbers compared to RB's isn't comparing apples to apples. Personally I rarely looked at YT for any coverage in the RB days, I just used their player.

12/15/2023 3:48am Warner/Discovery/ESO talked big about growing the sport and bringing in outside sponsors. Their actions have done the exact opposite. Restricting coverage behind a paywall decreases viewership, making the return on investment for sponsors lower. Even F1 lost viewership when it went behind a paywall and it is a much bigger sport than mountain biking. Why would a company outside mountain...

12/14/2023 4:47pm It's official, ESO/Discovery don't care about mountain biking at all. All the care about is locking it behind a paywall in one of their sports packages. This is the exact opposite of growing the sport and bringing in outside sponsors. This will convince cycling companies to cut their spending in mountain biking across all disciplines. Why continue sponsorship if viewership...

12/14/2023 8:55am new riders may not notice tires or brakes (as long as the brakes are bedded in properly). there may be up-and-comers who already rip getting these bikes, too, however. locally, there are tons of kids flying off massive jumps on clapped-out $500 hardtails b/c their skills ballooned so quickly with a bike park in the area. a $2000 bike for a jr high or high school kid is still a ton of money, and riders like that would probably notice performance issues with lackluster components once they continue to push. also, as rick said, in "expensive" bike tests, most often...
