I'm joining dots that probably don't exist but what's an internet forum for if not wild speculation.... But on the recent 20 years of IXS cup video ,Warner is doing the voice over, which is obviously not a Redbull job. I remember a conversation I had ~10 years ago with Martin Whitely about putting LEDs inside goggles to indicate splits. This was during the TFR days when they were definitely thinking outside the box a bit – doing things like warming their bikes up before runs to get the fluids to the right viscosity and messing around with aerodynamics. I'm surprised there hasn't been more emphasis on the latter in DH. Kerr might've been on the top box on Saturday if only his cables had been run through the headset, for instance.

They will- 1.Up the min UCI points to race at WC events. 2.Only allow UCi registered trade teams. 3.Stop national governing bodies getting wildcard entrants. 4.Slash number of qualifying riders. 5.Award races to the highest bidder regardless of the suitability of the venue (especially seeing as they want multi discipline venues to save money) This will be justified by saying "that WC represents the highest pinnacle of the sport, catering for the best athletes and these changes will allow us to present the best racing we have ever seen.....So shut up peasants, we own it now,so stop whinging or fuck...

The "Drive to Succeed" show was a success because it focused on the goings on in the F1 paddock/pits that most fans hardly ever hear about. It did not succeed because there were LESS racers but because each episode focused on a compelling story (i.e. rivalries) involving several drivers and team managers. If Discovery were to follow that model and also build an accompanying reality show, there is no need to reduce the number of racers or teams in the field but merely just focus on some ongoing drama per race that fans do not see. if you drop it to 30 riders you cant have protected riders IMO. imagine this, your a young Aussie/Kiwi, you save up hard for 2 years to live the dream in a Ford Transit van and eating nothing but Service station food and drinking cheap Czech beer for 4 months of summer. I can't find qualifying results, but of the 27 UCI WCDH races that Chris Ball entered (according to Roots and Rain) he finished within the top 30 at 5 of them, his highest placing was 22nd. I wonder, is it thinking about his bank balance that allows him to sleep at night?
