2/26/2025 7:52am what about applying it drunk the night before a ride, spilling half the lube on the floor then wiping the excess off the chain with a rag which is my current go to method?

2/25/2025 7:27am G2 brakes don’t even belong on xc bikes, I really don’t understand why they don’t spec codes AT LEAST, even tho there’s plenty of better options in the market, 170 cranks on a medium frame are not a shortcoming, the fact that you get the bike and both brakes and dropper need to go in the bin is a huge one tho

2/24/2025 7:27am I think the chainring is wearing quicker for two reasons. Firstly it's aluminium, whereas the chain and cassette are (mostly) steel, so it's a softer material. Secondly the chainring has only 30-34ish teeth and the wear is concentrated on them, the wear on the cassette is spread over multiple sprockets, likewise the chain will have over 100 rollers to spread the load. I'm a big fan of steel chainrings to offset this concentrated wear, plus a clean drivetrain and a wax lubricant seems to also help. Chains are definitely more durable than they once were and overall I see longer...

2/21/2025 7:34am I've got a customer who ordered an A-series bike that I'll hopefully be helping build soon. One thing I didn't know was the customer is contacted and brought along through the whole build of every frame. He gets check in's from Atherton bikes every step of the way. To me, it seems to be taking a bit longer than I expected but it sounds like they're quiet busy. Interesting to see the customer side of what they're doing and it's pretty impressive to what I've seen from other custom builders.

1/20/2025 4:04pm Eddie Masters brings more eyes to that team than probably anything. His YouTube channel is quite popular. He’s also no slouch in enduro, was just riddled with injuries that last bit.

1/14/2025 10:50am Must be coming soon. Landing page banner on their site. I think I'm the only one to not have Shimano pedals last forever. I get 1-2 seasons on them before the bearings are shot.

1/8/2025 9:49pm Hi Ryan, Great job validating my work! It’s really cool to see the numbers backing up the theory. Ideally, we would have done the 3D modifications and FEA first, then created the frame or modifications to match. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option as I didn’t have access to the 3D tools or enough time. The first modification was done at Val di Sole. The track was super wet and rooty, and extra frame compliance and grip were needed—that’s when the hacksaw came out 😂. However, as you mentioned, modifying the link without simultaneously addressing the seat stay bridge meant the...

1/8/2025 9:45pm Funny timing. This Sram patent that describes a Universal Brake Mount... posted on the Tech Rumors thread. Funny how we just touched on the issue with flexy brake mounts making brakes feel bad, this is one way to alleviate that problem. Neat.

1/6/2025 12:24pm Hey Ryan, again, awesome work, I really love this stuff, and it is why I got into using data acquisition on my bike! I read this over a few times and have some questions! Why did you decide on 1000n of force? With my data acquisition, I have recorded 30g at the rear axle of lateral force, which isn't convertible to N, but say 1 "gravity" is considered as the force of gravity on Earth, is roughly 9.8 N/kg. So, let's say I hit the max of 300n, could you run the calculations on that and see what % difference...
